Marshall LMS Update
Bray's Bulletin
As we head into our holiday break I would like to wish all of our Ram Families a joyous holiday season. I hope that our students and their families are able to enjoy the time away from school to rest and rejuvenate. I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my family and catching up on one of my favorite activities - - reading.
Fall semester exams begin tomorrow. As Rams we always try our best and do our best. I wish all of our students the best of luck on their semester exams.
Finally, all of the Northside ISD magnet schools are participating in the Northside ISD Magnet Fair tomorrow evening at the Paul Taylor Field House. If you know of a family member or a friend interested in one of the many options that Northside ISD offers in its magnet programs please encourage them to attend this event to learn more about magnet school options in Northside ISD. Last week we hosted the first recruiting open house event at Marshall LMS, and I was so incredibly proud of our students that volunteered for this event. They spoke with confidence, poise, and grace about our campus and the programs we offer. I was very happy and proud to hear our students speak about what it means to them to be an LMS student.
Again, I wish every one of our students, families, faculty, and staff a very happy and relaxing holiday break.
LMS Mock Trial and State Affairs Teams
LMS Mock Trial Team Advances to the State Competition
On Saturday, November 20th, the Marshall LMS Mock Trial and State Affairs teams competed at the Youth & Government District Competition at Akins Early College High School in Austin, Texas.
The LMS Mock Trial team consisted of 53 students ranging in grades 9th-11th. They were divided into six teams that included 4 attorneys, 3 witnesses and 1 bailiff/timekeeper. Each team presented both Plaintiff and Defense cases in a civil dispute involving the sale of a fraudulent painting valued at $8.3 million dollars. The teams competed in a tournament-like setting with 4 ninety minute trial rounds. Five of the six teams have advanced to State and will be preparing for their state-wide competition to take place in Austin on January 27-30, 2022.
The LMS State Affairs team consisted of 5 students ranging in grades 9th-11th. State Affairs Forum uses the structure of committee hearings with parliamentary procedure where students propose solutions to important current issues. It encourages debate on these solutions and thereby fosters in-depth understanding of the topics at hand. (ymcatexasyg.org) Two students have advanced to State to present their written proposals on January 27-30, 2022.
