Weekly News
Dear Middlebrook Families,
Happy Halloween! The boys and girls are eager to get home today to have a festive weekend with their families. I hope you are all rested up and prepared for the fun to begin! :)
For those of you who have already had your parent-teacher conference, I hope you have found the information that your child's teacher has shared with you to be helpful. Following parent-teacher conferences, it is important to have a follow up conversation with your child to acknowledge all of the accomplishments he/she has worked so hard to achieve as well as set goals for further improvement. Working with your child to establish concrete, specific goals, will help him/her to stay focused and be motivated to excel personally and academically. This goal setting practice, coupled with a structured weekly routine of homework, limited extra-curricular activities, healthy eating and plenty of sleep, is a solid recipe for success! Did you know, according to the CDC, the average elementary student, ages 6 - 12 years old requires between 9 - 12 hours of sleep each day?
As a staff, we are finalizing our focused building goals for the school year. Throughout the school year:
- Teachers will be working together interdependently to use the newly adopted Bridges and Eureka math curriculum, along with best instructional teaching practices, to increase students’ performance in the areas of numeracy and algebraic thinking; ultimately strengthening our students’ overall mathematical achievement.
- Our school based leadership team, instructional support staff, and classroom teachers will work to increase the use of effective intervention strategies in all K-5 classrooms, aiming to target and individualize instruction to improve our students’ academic performances.
- The Middlebrook community will continue to develop, communicate, and institute systems for supporting the social emotional learning and well-being of staff and students by working to teach and employ mindfulness and self-care strategies, which will ultimately enhancing our school climate.
Thank you to those of you who completed our Safe School Climate Survey. We will be using this data to set additional goals to further strengthen our School Climate.
In celebration of Veteran's Day, we would like to recognize our Middlebrook Community veterans. If you or a family member are a veteran, please send in a photograph of you/your veteran with the following information:
- Your child's name and their teacher's name
- Veteran's name, relationship to your child, and branch of service
You can email Mrs. Balzano (lbalzano@trumbullps.org) with the photo and information or send it in with your child.
If you do not have a photo of your veteran, you can send the information to Mrs. Balzano without the photo. Please send all information to Mrs. Balzano by Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.
