What's Going On At Veritas In December!
December 1, 2022
December is here! The first term of school is quickly coming to a close and students will be bringing their report cards home on Friday, December 9. Please sign the cover sheet and return both the cover sheet and the envelope to the school.
This year, our Advent theme is centered around the Star. During Advent, we are collecting items for the Ksan Society. During week 1 of Advent, we are collecting new or clean and gently used clothing, such as socks, pants, sweaters, etc. In week 2, we are collecting personal items, such as toothbrushes and deodorant. In week 3, we are collecting warm items, such as gloves and scarves. All collected items will be donated to the Ksan Society for those in need in our local community. Thank you, in advance, for your contributions!

Thank you to Bandstra Transportation!
One of the VPSG's most popular fundraisers this fall was bringing you fresh hand picked apples right from Davison Orchard in Vernon! In total, Veritas school distributed 2805 pounds of fresh apples! We want to thank Bandstra Transportation Systems Ltd. for their generosity in providing exceptional service and delivering the apples to our school, the parents that helped sort and distribute the apples, and everyone that ordered to support this great fundraiser! Thank you!

Art Cards:
Art Cards and extra orders (puzzles, ornaments, etc) have arrived! They will be sent home with students on Friday. If you would like your package NOT sent home with your child to protect a possible present, please contact the office before noon on Friday, December 2.
Hot Lunch:
The VPSG is looking for a Hot Lunch Coordinator! Silvia Barg has taken on this responsibility for the last few years - thank you for your time and dedication, Silvia! If you are interested in being the next Hot Lunch Coordinator or finding our more about this role, please contact Silvia Barg on Facebook or Birke (250-615-1491 or birkepferd@hotmail.com). The second round of Hot Lunch orders will be ready soon! Watch for the munch-a-lunch link being shared on Seesaw in the coming weeks. The operation of Hot Lunch relies on classroom reps and volunteers to assist each Monday and Wednesday; if volunteers are not found, that week of Hot Lunch may be cancelled.
VPSG Executive:
The VPSG Executive includes Birke Araujo as Chair, Ashley Medeiros as Vice-Chair, Gillian McCutcheon as Secretary, and Joan Iamele as treasurer.
Fundraisers:
All of our fall and Christmas fundraisers have been submitted! Upcoming fundraisers in the new year include seed packages through West Coast Seeds and the spring Growing Smiles fundraiser.
Christmas Desert Trays:
The VPSG will be selling our popular Christmas Dessert Trays for $20 per tray on Friday, December 16 from 10:30 - 12:15 (or until they sell out) in the front entrance of the school. All Christmas dessert trays will be nut free. Thank you to all the bakers that have volunteered so far! If you can contribute some baking, please contact Birke at 250-615-1491, birkepferd@hotmail.com, or through Facebook. We are also seeking donations of boxes or trays suitable for baking. Please contact Birke if you have trays or boxes to donate.
Fundraising Monies:
This year's fundraising goal is $30 000! Watch for the progress thermometer in the January newsletter.
