Loveland City Schools Newsletter
March 4, 2023
Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Community,
I have a request for each person who receives our Community Newsletter: please share it with one friend or neighbor, and encourage them to sign up. It is important to me that our entire community have information about our school district, and this newsletter helps us provide important information.
In the spirit of keeping our community informed, we have launched a Levy Information page on our website about the 4.9 mill operating levy that is on the ballot on May 2, 2023. I want everyone to have the information they need to make the best decision for their family on this important topic. You can reach the page at www.lovelandschools.org/levy.
The page gives an overview of the district’s financial history since the last levy was approved in 2014, including the cuts made after the 2020 levy failure, which continue to impact students. This levy will cost a homeowner an additional $14 per month, or $172 per year, for every $100,000 in county auditor appraised home value. There is a calculator on the site to help you crunch the numbers and links to the county auditor sites so you can find your home’s value.
If the levy is approved, not much will change for Loveland City Schools. We will continue our commitment to fiscal responsibility and use the funds to maintain our class sizes, student support, and course offerings.
If the levy fails and there is no additional funding approved this year, Loveland City School District would move into step one of the State of Ohio fiscal distress process. Each step of the fiscal distress process comes with more state oversight, deeper cuts to what we offer students, and fewer options for how to pull the district out of a difficult financial situation. I discussed the fiscal distress process during our most recent Board of Education meeting, and you can watch my presentation by following this link.
It has been nine years since our last school levy was approved by voters. During that time, the district’s costs have grown for staffing, services, supplies, and fuel. We are essentially operating on 2014 funding in a 2023 economy. This year the district is dipping into its savings to pay for expenses because of our rising costs.
Loveland produces fantastic outcomes for students and earned a 5-star Ohio School Report Card with some of the lowest per-student funding in Ohio. Our district runs incredibly efficiently, and our finances are an open book.
I hope every voter in our community takes the time to learn all they can about our district finances before they head to the polls.
If you have questions or want more information, you can reach me at: broadwmi@lovelandschools.org.
Go Tigers!

Back our Businesses Week a Success!
For the third year in a row, Tigers Inc. organized “Back our Businesses Week” in downtown Loveland. The annual event brings attention and support to local businesses. It’s all organized by Tigers Inc., our student-run nonprofit organization at Loveland High School, in collaboration with the Loveland Legacy Foundation. The goal is to get people to eat, shop, and support local businesses.
Impact Night on Thursday was the highlight of the week when Loveland Schools students, families, and staff packed the streets wearing orange. On Impact Night, many downtown Loveland businesses agreed to support local nonprofit organizations by donating a portion of their sales. Hope Squad, CancerFree Kids, LIFE Food Pantry, and the Care Center were just a few of the organizations that benefited from this support.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this awesome community event that partners students, businesses, and nonprofits for a unique experience!
Congratulations, Dylan Smith
Loveland High School senior Dylan Smith has been accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dylan received nominations from both Senator Sherrod Brown and Representative Brad Wenstrup. Congratulations, Dylan, on this outstanding achievement!
Loveland Seniors Attend “Speed Mentoring” Event
Loveland High School seniors got a fantastic, real-world experience last week during a “Speed Mentoring” event. Nearly 40 mentors from a variety of industries spent Tuesday morning talking with our students about the skills needed to be successful in the world of work. The Clermont Chamber of Commerce partnered with our Loveland Tiger Pathways program for this event at the Oasis Conference Center. Students get a chance to learn directly from people working in exciting fields like Business Management, Education, Finance, Law/Public Safety, STEM, and more - giving them an opportunity to build a professional network and make decisions about what to pursue after graduation. Thank you to the Clermont Chamber and the mentors who volunteered their time for this great event!

“3s for LIFE” Feeds Loveland Families in Need
Loveland High School students just wrapped up a fantastic service project “3’s for LIFE.” A partnership between Tigers Inc., Spirit Club, and Loveland High School Athletics, “3’s for LIFE” supports the LIFE Food Pantry. Every 3-point shot made during boys and girls basketball games turned into 12 canned goods for families in need, thanks to donations from Jarvis Global Investments. Additional donations from the community turned into more than 3,000 canned goods to support LIFE Food Pantry. Thank you to our students for demonstrating the Loveland Schools Core Values of Care, Respect, and Responsibility - and thank you to everyone who donated!
