Forest Grove Falcon Update
September 8 - September 15, 2022
Message from the Principal
Dear Forest Grove Families and Staff,
Our intervention teachers have started the intervention classes in reading before and during school and mathematics during school. We are very appreciative that parents and students are making plans to get the students to school early so they can participate in reading intervention. Goals 1 and 2 continue to be a focus in the classroom and during intervention.
Next week, we have our second assembly of the year. The Morris Brothers will bring an Anti-bullying and Character Building Presentation (Primary 1:00pm, Intermediate 2:00pm) on Monday, September 12. The assembly will support goals 4 and 5.
Our support staff consistently work together and with parents to support and ensure goal 4 is being met for students at individual and group levels.
Goals 1 and 2 - Instruction
English Language Arts and Mathematics - student learning focused on growth
Goal 3 - Visual and Performing Arts
All subjects are supported twice a month - engagement, access and understanding
Goal 4- Social and Emotional Supports
Schoolwide and throughout the day - education: coping skills, social interaction and peer support
Goal 5- Maintain School Safety
Safety Awareness - See Something; Say Something
Let's get the walking shoes ready for Walk to PRIDE on Saturday, September 17 from 9 am to 12 pm. The funds raised support our classroom field trips, instructional material and class projects.
On the following pages, please find important information. 1, 2, 3...Go Falcons!
Yours in education,
Irene Preciado., PhD
Principal

Counselor's Corner
Dear 4th and 5th grade Falcon Families,
In addition to counseling at Forest Grove, I also spend Fridays counseling at Pacific Grove Middle School. I would like to make our families aware of an opportunity at PGMS on Thursday Sept 8th. PGMS will be screening the documentary ANGST, Raising Awareness Around Anxiety.
On top of academic and social stress, the uncertainty and fears of this past pandemic years have brought all of us a lot more anxiety than before. Angst helps break this down, explaining what’s going on, and what we can do about it to help both ourselves and others. It features World Champion Swimmer Michael Phelps, experts in the field, and regular teenagers.
This 6:15 pm screening is most appropriate for 4th and 5th grade parents. The screening begins at 6:15 in the PGMS Auditorium Thursday Sept 8th.
Please join us and feel free to reach out to me at zroach@pgusd.org

Lunch Information 🤩
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students! Each student is offered one free breakfast meal and one free lunch meal every school day. To ensure the student is receiving a complete meal, the student must take a fruit, vegetable, and/or juice with their meal. If they do not wish to consume it, they may leave it on the "share table or basket" for any other student to enjoy. For up-to-date information on our department and for menus, please visit our website.
Memorizing student's 6-Digit Student ID Number
We are required to utilize our Point of Sales system to maintain a record of students dining with us. To ensure the serving lines move along smoothly, we encourage families to work with their children to learn and remember their 6-digit Student ID number. This number is inputted into our Point of Sales when the student receives their meal.
Food Service Substitutes - we are hiring!
We are looking for subs! If you are interested in substitute positions with Food Services, please visit here.
