Mukilteo Elementary Falcon Spirit

Vision & Hearing Screening
The annual vision and hearing screening is scheduled at Mukilteo Elementary on September 27th. Parents/Guardians can help by avoiding absences and making sure your children wear their eyeglasses (if any) on screening days. A letter will be sent home only in the event the child needs a referral to a licensed vision professional. NOTE: this school screening is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam done by a licensed vision professional. The American Academy of Optometrists recommends a comprehensive eye exam at age 6 months, 3 years, before entering 1st grade and every 2 years from then on.

National Hispanic Heritage Month
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.

On Thursday, October 6, we will be hosting our Curriculum Night from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
The teachers provide two sessions to accommodate our families with more than one student in our school. From 6:00 to 6:20 pm, join us in the gym for introductions and a brief summary of the 7 Habits and information about our school. The first classroom session is from 6:25 to 6:55pm; the second session is from 7:00 to 7:30pm.
During both sessions, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to hear an overview of the curriculum, classroom procedures, and learn about student goal setting. Since many of our grade level staff members work collaboratively and share students, grade level teams may present together. The format of Curriculum Night is to be a parent/guardian presentation. We will have limited childcare available. We appreciate your understanding.
Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found is already starting to pile up! Please have your child(ren) check for missing items there. Parents/Guardians are welcome to come check it before or after school. Please note that some missing items can take a few days to make it to the Lost & Found. Items will be donated at the end of each month.
Free Student Meals for the 2022-23 School Year!
Due to a new state rule, Mukilteo School District will provide free meals for ALL of the students attending Mukilteo Elementary without collecting applications beginning this September. A school’s qualification for the program, called Community Eligibility Provision, is based on the percentage of families with students attending that school who participate in state-funded assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC, etc. The data comes from the state database of assistance program participation.
Attending school each day is a stepping stone to academic success. When students attend regularly, starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, they have the opportunity to achieve academically and thrive.

Absenteeism is a lost opportunity to learn and connect with others.
Let’s help students build a habit of good attendance early and often! #AttendanceMatters #SchoolEveryDay
