Mehlville School District
Special Education
April 2023 Edition
Welcome Dr. Haug!
As you may have heard, the Mehlville Board of Education has selected Dr. Jeff Haug as the district’s new superintendent beginning July 1, 2023.
Dr. Haug had this to say regarding students with IEPs, “I am absolutely honored that I was able to serve Special School District as the Chief Operating Officer. With that experience, I have an even greater dedication for students who receive support through an IEP. This is a group of students I hold near and dear to my heart and cannot wait to continue the relationship with Special School District. I cannot begin to put into words how impressed I am with SSD staff and teachers, and how they impact students across St. Louis County. I am looking forward to hearing from and serving our families in the Mehlville School District.”
SSD Board of Education Special Election
The Governing Council will hold a special election for the open Board of Education seat in Subdistrict 1, which represents Hazelwood, Maplewood-Richmond Heights, and Jennings school districts. The Governing Council, which elects the SSD Board of Education, was not able to elect a candidate for Subdistrict 1 at the March 6 meeting and declared an impasse due to lack of a quorum. According to bylaws, the Governing Council must hold a new election for the open seat at the next scheduled Governing Council meeting.
Applications will be distributed at the SSD Central Office, located at 12110 Clayton Road in Town & Country, between 9 AM and 3 PM, from Monday April 3, 2023 through Friday, April 28, 2023. Under Governing Council regulations, information packets and applications must be picked up and returned to the SSD Central Office by the candidate. Packets and forms will not be mailed. Those returning completed applications must show proof of identification. Filing will not occur on days when the District’s offices are closed due to inclement weather or in the event of a District closure. For eligibility requirements and additional details, please visit the District website.
