Units of Study

Social Studies: We are in the midst of a very brief unit about Slavery and the Gullah culture. We are learning about the influence these things had on the colony of Carolina. There will be a slavery quiz on Monday, Dec. 21st. Students have a notes guide that will be brought home on Wednesday.

Science: We are exploring food chains as we learn about producers, consumers, and decomposers. Students dissected owl pellets today in class and had an exciting time! I apologize for all the bones and hair that was brought home! There will be a short food chains assessment on Friday. We are moving on to earth's land features and changes. Next will come natural resources and energy.

Important Reminders!!

  • Friday, Dec. 18th will be our last day of Math and ELA until after the new year.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 22nd is a half-day of school. Dismissal is @ 11:00. If your child has a change in afternoon transportation for this day, please let me know as soon as possible.
  • On Tuesday, Dec. 22nd, all third grade students will be participating in movie rotations. Students will not need a snack on this day. I have ordered popcorn from Treetz in Tega Cay to serve as students watch the movie. Students can also wear their PJ's on this day! What better way to spend the last half-day of school than in PJs watching a movie and eating popcorn!
