GREETINGS FROM MR. CLARK

BMS Weekly Warrior Email 9/15/23

PTO Meeting: Our first PTO Meeting will be Monday September 18th @ 6:00 pm Please enter through the front doors.

Picture Day: BMS picture day will be October 11th. We will send out more information as the date approaches.

PROCEDURE FOR LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY No student will be allowed to leave school prior to dismissal time without consent of a parent, guardian, or emergency contact. Students will only be released upon verification of a photo ID. If a student must leave the building because of illness or any other emergency, a parent or designee (the designee must be listed on the student’s emergency card) must sign out the student in the Main Office. Failure to follow the proper procedure will be considered skipping. In an effort to maintain an effective functioning school, students may not be released from school within thirty (30) minutes of the end of the day, except for emergency purposes.

Our Neighbors at Dove’s Point: Just a reminder that Dove’s point is a private drive for residents. Please do not use their road to pick your child up from school. We have had reports of people blocking access to mailboxes and driveways.

The Warrior Way Podcast: Stay up to date with everything going on in the WBSD by checking out the district’s podcast. There are new episodes every other week. Click HERE to listen now or you can find The Warrior Way where you listen to other great podcasts like on Spotify, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, Sirius and many others. It’s also available on mywbsd.org and on RSS.com.

Math Tutoring: Mr. Reed will be providing math tutoring for 6th & 7th grade students every morning from 7:30-8:00am. Mr. Reed is located in room C1 (inside the media by the gyn entrance). Please send him an email if you have any question ReedB@wbsdweb.com

Communication Preferences: In an effort to learn more about parent communication preferences, the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District would like to know more about your feelings regarding "Back to School" communications. Please respond to this survey HERE with your thoughts.

Bussing Issue: We have reviewed bus expectation with all students last week. The basic request is that students are at their bus stop 5 mins early. While on the bus they sit down, face forward and talk quietly with people around them. Students unable to follow the basic rules will be removed from bussing.

DAILY STUDENT HEALTH SCREENING AT HOME

Below are some friendly reminders to help keep all of us safe as we continue this school year. I have also attached the Wayne County Screener and a Student Health Decision Flowchart as references for making educated decisions regarding your child’s health.

The failure to follow the screening protocols, and children going to school without following the protocols is the greatest threat to us being able to: maintain trust, keep all of our students and staff safe, and maintaining/expanding our in-person teaching/learning. Thank you for partnering with us as we continue through this school year.

  • · For the safety of all of our students and staff, as parents, we need to make sure that we’re performing the daily screenings on our students before sending them to school.
  • · If you answer yes to any of the protocol questions, you must keep your child home.
  • · All of us need to do our part to make sure we can continue the educational models that our parents have chosen.
