WE WANT YOUR OPINION - Please take a short survey.

Our school is committed to providing a safe and encouraging place for your child. You can help us continue to make improvements to our school by completing a short online survey.

Students in grades 5-12 and all staff at AIS, AMS and AHS are participating in the Safe & Civil Schools Climate & Safety Survey. We want to know what you think, too. All responses are anonymous. The resulting data will allow us to see if the three groups—parents/guardians, students, and staff—agree or disagree about important issues. We will be able to identify what we are doing well and what we need to work on, such as safety in a particular location of the school, students’ understanding of the expectations for behavior, or communication with families.

The survey should take less than 10 Minutes.

It's available online this week - Jan. 18 - 24.

You may complete it on any computer with internet access.

Just one parent or guardian from each household.

You may choose to read the survey in English or Spanish.

Go online to Safe and Civil Schools Survey Link

Enter User ID: RDMQMP

Be sure to complete every page of the survey until you reach the final page that says "Survey Complete" Then Click Close.

Thank you! If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school office.

Welcome Alex Thorpe to AMS - Intern with Mrs. Malone

Dear Parents,

My name is Alex Thorpe, and I have the privilege of student teaching in Ms. Malone’s classroom until the end of April. I am currently a math major at Troy University, and have been placed through Athens State to perform my internship requirements. I will be earning my bachelor’s degree this May.

As a student teacher, I will be working closely with Mrs. Malone to plan and prepare lessons to teach to the class. I will also be assisting her during class. Prior to working in Ms. Malone’s classroom, I have worked in various other schools both assisting and teaching math lessons. This is the final classroom that I will be working in during my undergraduate work, and I am thrilled to be spending my student teaching time at Athens Middle School!!!

Teaching and working with students is a joy to me, and I am so happy to finally be able to work in a classroom full-time! During my time in your child’s class, I hope to excite them about the world of learning and broaden his or her academic interests. In addition, I am looking forward to getting to know your child and working with him or her through the rest of the semester!
