Principal's Message
Thank you for another fantastic week with your children. We distributed hundreds of chromebooks, students joined various fall sports teams and most of our students got the hang of their lockers. Day by day we are becoming more of a family in the halls of Carver middle school and we appreciate your parental support.
In an effort to continue to build upon our school-community relationship we have our first Principal's chat tomorrow at 6 pm. This town hall style event will allow parents and students to communicate directly with me. This will give me a chance to get to know our parents address concerns, answer question and hear your ideas. Parents will also be provided an opportunity to speak with teachers from our Summit, Cougar Academy and Avid programs separately.
We are eager to welcome our Carver MS Dads as the WATCH D.OG.S. program comes to Carver MS. The opening meeting is scheduled for September 25 at 5:30. We are still looking for volunteers so please sign up if you are available dads!
If your student does not have a chromebook by the end of the school day tomorrow I will send a separate email to you. Please contact our office if you are a parent who is in need of assistance in accessing a chromebook or if you are a parent who would like to make a donation to help make sure all of our students have devices as soon as possible.
Thank you very much for your support and have a great week!

CARVER MS WATCH D.O.G.S.
Carver Middle School is looking to launch our own WATCH D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) organization. This organization will be comprised of dads, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, and any other male role models in the lives of our students. We want our WATCH D.O.G.S. to volunteer their time in our school to better enhance the learning experience for all of our students, teachers, and staff. We will take any time you have to be in our building and be an additional presence of support for our school. Please join us at 5:30pm on Wednesday September 25th in our library prior to Back To School Night for a pizza kick-off party. You will learn more about WATCH D.O.G.S. and enjoy some pizza with your student. Please RSVP by Tuesday September 26th to Mr. Nathanial Wiedenhoft at nathanial_wiedenhoft@ccpsnet.net or at 804-524-3620 extension 144.

Message from Nurse Natalie
Hello Carver Cougars-
I am super excited to be returning to the Carver Family as your school nurse for the 2019-2020 school year! Some of you with older children may remember me as I was the nurse at Carver from the 2012-2016. For the last 3 years I have been serving Falling Creek middle school.
As a friendly reminder, please if your student has a health condition such as a life threatening allergy, asthma, seizures, diabetes or any other condition that may require care during the school day you must provide the clinic with an up to date health service plan for your student. Each school year a new plan is needed. Copies of health plans can be found on the CCPS website via the family> health and safety > forms link
Also, don’t forget to check with your doctor about immunizations such as the TDAP that are now required by the VA state law for all 7th graders. This is a change from previous years.
I look forward to getting to know many of you and your children this school year! As your school nurse, it is my privilege to support and advocate for our students, staff and families! I want every student to have the opportunity to be safe, healthy and ready to learn!
Please let me know how I can help you or your student!
Be well,
Nurse Natalie
