Happy November! I hope your family was able to enjoy the beautiful weather this past weekend. It was amazing. We have one week left and then we will enjoy a week off to spend time with our family and loved ones for our Thanksgiving Break.

I wanted to remind you about our Virtual Family Library Night that will happen tonight. Please read the Librarian corner for more details. Then on Dec. 3rd, progress reports will be loaded onto your home access center so be on the look out for them.

Our next electronic Emery Express will be sent on December 6th which is a Monday. It will be a short turn around since the month is flying by. As a friendly reminder, we will send monthly newsletters on the first Monday of the month and they are sent out by the teachers and through our School Messenger to all our families.

I want to remind everyone about our school start time. Our school start time is 8:40 so please make sure to arrive early enough so your child can get their grab and go breakfast and make it to class before the bell rings. If you arrive after the 8:40 bell, please remember to park your car and walk your child to the door so they can be signed in and they will receive a tardy slip to class. We want every Emery Eagle here on time so they can enjoy their SOAR time first thing in the morning. Let us know if you need any assistance.

Feliz noviembre! Espero que su familia haya disfrutado del clima bonito del fin de semana pasado. Fue increíble. Nos queda una semana y luego disfrutaremos de una semana libre para pasar tiempo con nuestra familia y seres queridos durante nuestras vacaciones de Acción de Gracias.

Quería recordarles de nuestra Noche de Biblioteca Virtual Familiar que tendrá lugar esta noche. Por favor de leer el Rincon del bibliotecario para más detalles. Luego el 3 de diciembre los informes de progreso se cargaran en el centro de acceso de su hogar (HAC), así que esté atento a ellos.

Nuestro próximo Emery Express electrónico se enviara el lunes 6 de diciembre. Sera algo corto ya que el mes se está pasando volando. Como recordatorio amistoso, enviaremos boletines mensuales el primer lunes del mes y son enviados por los maestros y a través de School Messenger a todas las familias.

Medication Drop-Off:

If you would like to drop off a medication for your child, please call the clinic to schedule an appointment at 281-855-9026. You can also email the school nurse at ashley.redd@cfisd.net

Reminders about Medication:

A parent/guardian MUST bring and sign in ANY medication into the clinic. This includes creams, cough drops, inhalers, and other medications. Students may NOT bring it to school in their backpack.

Prescriptions must be within date and have the student’s full name.

If it is an over-the-counter medication such as cough drops, Benadryl, Tylenol, it MUST be a brand new, UNOPENED bottle/bag.

COVID-19:

To access COVID related protocols, please refer to CFISD lead safely Plan at https://www.cfisd.net/Page/6114 for the most up-to-date guidelines.

Students, staff and visitors must screen daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to school or work until evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Loss of taste/smell
Nasal congestion
Sore throat
Headache
Fever at or above 100°F
Vomiting/diarrhea

Parents/Guardians: Please contact the nurse for any COVID related concerns. If your students are tested for COVID (whether their results may be positive or negative), PLEASE contact the nurse and/or email the test results to her. It is imperative that we keep up-to-date with this information to keep our campus healthy.

Please also pack an extra change of clothes for your student in case they have an accident. The clinic is always in need of pants/shorts and unused underwear. If you have any that you would like to donate, the clinic would be forever grateful!

Our upcoming family Library Night will be a virtual “cuddle up with a great picture book” event. Get in your comfy pajamas or lounge clothes and a nice cool weather snack and join us to read some fun picture books. We’ll also talk about how we can make our own picture books.

From November through January, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders may participate in Name That Book meetings during their recess if they are interested. Name That Book is an academic team competition where students read from a list of 100 books and then work as a team to match the books to clues given in a contest. Our grade level competition will be on January 24, so at this time, that is what we are preparing for. Questions? Email Ms. McGinness at bettie.mcginness@cfisd.net.

Nuestra próxima Noche Familiar en la biblioteca será un evento virtual de “acurrucarse con un gran libro de imágenes”. Ponte tus pijamas o ropa cómoda y un refrigerio agradable para el clima fresco y únete a nosotros para leer unos divertidos libros ilustrados. También hablaremos sobre cómo podemos hacer nuestros propios libros ilustrados.

Desde noviembre a enero los grados de 3,4 y 5 podrán participar en las reuniones de Name That Book durante el recreo si están interesados. Did you know that we are increasing our number of ebooks! Your student can check them out by logging into my.cfisd.net and then clicking on the library resources folder. Once in the folder, click on the blue lightbulb to go to our catalog.

From there you can access ebooks through Tumblebooks, PebbleGo, Capstone Interactive, and by searching ebooks in the catalog.

A Little Note:

Finally, please look around your home. If you see any books with a library barcode sticker on them that have been hanging out for a while at your house, please bring them to the Emery Library. Even if they go to another CFISD school or the Harris County Library, Ms. McGinness will get them returned to the right place. We are hoping to get all our books back home so they can visit with new families this year!
