ALL students must be wearing their ID and it should be visible at all times. Whether it be their school ID on a lanyard OR a temporary ID (sticker) badge, it MUST be worn.
If a student has lost their ID Badge, please replace it in the front office (it does cost money to replace an ID Badge).
If a student has forgotten their ID Badge, the consequence is last in line at lunch and no Snack Bar.

Science
Hello Thunderhawks!
We had a great first week back from break! Students completed a brief 1-week unit on waves. Next week, we jump into the world of Geology! We will begin by studying Earth’s layers! Did you know that the Earth has two cores - a liquid outer core and a solid inner core? Students will find out why one is liquid and one is solid next week! We will continue in this unit for the month of January. Students will explore the layers of the earth, continental drift, seafloor spreading, and plate tectonics. Students will have an open-note quiz on just the layers of the Earth on January 24
English
Hello Thunderhawks!
Our first week after the break was great, and we were so excited to get to see each of our students! We spent the week doing a “grammar check-up” on Quill.org, so we can prepare to move into our next writing unit. We will begin our argumentative writing unit soon, so we will be spending next week focusing on how to write a claim that is supported by evidence and commentary.

Message for 6th Grade Principal
What an incredible first week back!
It was busy, but it was absolutely wonderful. We dove right back into the groove of school this week as we began new units in each subject. The second semester always goes by quickly, but there is so much to look forward to.
Our 6th grade social is officially on the calendar for February 17th. Students will be getting more information about this in the days to come. It is sure to be a blast!
Next week we will walk students through resetting their Chromebook password. I can’t stress enough how important it is to not share that information with other students!
Also, next week students will get to sign up for their next hawk hangout. Be talking to your friends now about what you may want to enroll in for this next session!
A few reminders:
Students, make sure you are always wearing your ID badge. If you need a new one, you can sign up in the office and they’ll have a new one made for you for $5.
Dress code: remember that even though it is very cold some days, as soon as you come in the building, hats/beanies and hoods must come off.
Use your passing time wisely, it is very important that you get to class on time and are not tardy!
Technology: Chromebooks are for school purposes only. Phones are to remain off from 7;30AM-2:20 PM. Remember to always be kind, even when texting and sending emails. YOUR WORDS MATTER!
I am so looking forward to this next semester. Please never hesitate to reach out and ask questions. Students, if you see me in my office, pop in and say hi!. Come tell me a joke and get a piece of candy!
In observance of Martin Luther King day, we will not be in school on Monday. I leave you with two famous quotes from Martin Luther King Jr.:
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
And
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
