Message from Principal Taggart
Dear Liberty ES Families,
I wanted to start by saying that I am so excited to be joining the faculty and staff of such a great school. Liberty is well known for excellence, both for individuals and for the school as a whole. My personal experience with Liberty prior to coming here was in service to Liberty families while their children were attending McKamy Middle School. I was the principal at McKamy from 2008 to 2016.
While I have been retired from education since 2016, I have maintained a relationship with LISD. I have been asked to serve as an administrator three times before this, with my last post being at Hedrick MS in Lewisville. I am very grateful that LISD has asked me to serve again in a leadership position.
The Taggarts are an LISD family. We have lived in this area since 1988. I served as a teacher, coach and administrator on five campuses before retiring, and as an administrator on five campuses after retiring. My wife and I raised two sons who were enrolled at LISD schools from Kindergarten to Graduation. We are proud of this district.
My experience thus far has been stellar. Liberty runs like a well-oiled machine. From drop-off to pick up, and everywhere in between, I am consistently impressed with the students, the teachers, the staff, and the many parent volunteers I have already met. I want to specifically recognize the rest of the team in the Main Office: Ms. Cox, Ms. Banda, Mr. Gonzalez, Ms. Greenawalt, Ms. Hamlin and Nurse Miller; they have been most welcoming and most helpful.
As I said, this is a well-run school. The procedures that are in place are clear, and their implementation is consistent. You should expect very little in the way of changes over the remainder of this school year; the most important thing for both students and teachers is that they feel comfortable and that they experience consistency.
Please reach out if I can be of assistance; my email is taggartp@lisd.net, and the school number is 469.713.5958. I am looking forward to the Liberty Lunch and Learn on the 31st, and to a fabulous spring semester here at Liberty!
Go Eagles!

Recognizes LISD Staff Members
Do you know that our Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp initiated a new acknowledgement program for all LISD staff members this school year? Anyone can honor or thank any staff member by simply going to lisd.net/Recognize. Each recognition will be viewed by Dr. Rapp and a nice commemorative card will be generated with the statement and author printed on it and then presented to staff members throughout the school year. Thank you for your consideration in taking the time to submit recognitions this way.
