Next Week is Teacher Appreciation week

An easy way to show your appreciation for any staff member at our school is to send me a brief email or letter nominating them for the Horace Mann Crystal Apple Award.

So far I have no nominations. The deadline will be extended until Friday, May 6th!

A Way to honor a great teacher!

Recommendations sought for teachers to honor during Teacher Appreciation Week

During this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6), the U.S. Department of Education wants to extend a personal thank you to some great teachers. Help us by recommending a colleague, a friend, your child’s teacher, or the teacher who inspired you. While we cannot guarantee reaching every teacher during the week, we may use submitted information for other highlighting purposes throughout the year.

Another way to recognize someone, Chariho Employee of the month!

Click this link to send a short letter to nominate someone for this great award. Mrs. Parker was recognized in the month of March after a parent from our school nominated her.

TIP: You can use the same letter to nominate a teacher for all three awards: our Crystal Apple Award, Chariho Employee of the Month and for the Department of Education!!!

We are looking for parents to help at the 4th grade picnic

Please contact Mrs. Poore or a 4th grade teacher if you are interested in volunteering to cook hamburgers and hot dogs at the 4th Grade Picnic on a school day in June.

Kindergarten Registation

If you still need to register your child, please call Norma or Carrie at 364-7716.

Please forward this to friends who have an incoming K student.

No Medications carried by students

As a reminder, students are not allowed to bring medications to school. This includes cough drops, advil, tylenol, cold medicine, allergy medicine, nasal spray and inhalers.

If a student has these items, they are subject to disciplinary action including Immediate dismissal from school, Three Days Suspension and Police Notification.

If you feel that you child needs these medications, please consult with our school nurse, Mrs. Coulson. These items need to be transported to school by an adult and need to be kept in the clinic.

Any prescription medication can only be administered by our nurse if it is brought in to us in the original bottle with label and a doctor's order.

PTO Outdoor Classroom Space Project

The PTO was recently granted permission by the school committee to proceed with their plans for outdoor teaching spaces. Thank you to Karen Bellnier for chairing this committee.

The first phase of the plan was completed on April 9th. Thank you to all of the parents, students and community members who came and helped to clear the space for future improvements. Another clean-up will be scheduled in a few weeks.
