What do graphic designers do?

Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. They develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines, and corporate reports.

What are the educational requirements of the job?

Students interested in graphic design programs should take basic art and design courses in high school. A bachelor’s degree in graphic design is also good. Students should consider courses in writing, marketing, and business, all of which are useful in helping designers work effectively on project teams.

What are the working conditions and physical demands?

Most graphic designers work in an office or in a studio. That means they are usually comfortable there. Some physical demands are that they need to work full time but they usually sit at a desk the whole time so there isn't much physical demand.

The future outlook is that there will be an influx of jobs as the number of movies being produced goes higher. If computers start being more advanced than they are right now, then we won’t need any graphic designers because the computer will do it for you.
