K-5 Summer Reading

We are excited to release our new summer reading program! Reading outside of the classroom is critical for maintaining and expanding a child's literacy skills; especially over the extended summer break. In addition, it encourages students to become lifelong readers and provides an opportunity for students and families to connect with local libraries and book stores.

Summer reading will begin on Monday, June 22nd. Each student will keep track of the books that he/she has read on the provided reading log. Completed reading logs should be submitted in the student's Moodle course by Friday, August 7th. Students who complete the reading log will be recognized in a virtual assembly with the principal in September and will also receive a reading achievement certificate!

Click on the links below to access books lists for your child's grade. Choose the grade the student will be entering in the fall. Each list offers a wide selection of nationally recognized fiction and non-fiction titles. Feel free to choose books from Storia and/or from summer reading lists provided by your local library. Please contact your child's teacher before the end of the school year if you need help choosing books at the appropriate reading level.
