West Quad Staff Update
Week 3
Great Work!
The Sustainability Fellows Are Hiring First Year Students
The Sustainability Fellows are hiring Residential Fellows to serve in the halls from October 2014-May 2014. They will be paid a stipend for their hard work and leadership. Send this link to any residents who you think would be interested in able to help teach first years about economic, environmental and social sustainability. Applications are due 9/19.
Take Care of YOU!
During the busy months of the academic year, it is easy to put your needs aside. I urge you to really consider your own wellness so you can be your best self when interacting with others and helping to serve your community. This week in staff your Head Residents will lead you all in a staff development exercise related to wellness.
Also note that there are events on campus and spaces on campus to help you relax.
- The Center for Women and Gender Action has a Relaxation Room
- The Open House is a peaceful place on campus and has yoga events, meditation opportunities and a kitchen you can use.
- Exploring the Bioreserve is a great way to escape campus and enjoy nature. Take a hike!
September Inservice
First C-SMART (Committee on Sexual Misconduct & Awareness Response Team) is 9/25 at 4pm in Higley Auditorium
FLY UPDATES
Logistics Chairs: Please make sure you have your space reserved and any set up needs requested. You can ask Denise to help you with these needs. Also, if you need technology, please let Molly know.
Purchasing Chairs: If you need any incentives purchased, let Molly know so she can order them asap (shipment can take time).
Outreach Chairs: Send Molly the advertisements for your program so she can get them printed in color and on glossy paper prior to your event.
Public Relations Chairs: Now is the time (if you have not done so yet) to reach out to anyone you want to attend your program to help educate and inform your students.
Communications Chairs and Administrative Chairs: You have done GREAT work thus far. Thank you to those who have set up meetings and communicated your plan with Molly!
Health and Safety Checks
Health and Safety Checks will take place from October 6th-October 10th. All residence halls will be doing health and safety checks at this time.
Please note the following:
- We will have keys available for you in the Service Center. You must pick the key up from Denise between 8am and 4pm.
- You can do Health and Safety Checks anytime between 9am-9pm (you can keep the key overnight and return to Denise in the morning)
- You must do the checks in groups of 2 (Head Residents will assign you days and teams)
- Health and Safety Checks should be quick. You are not digging through items in the room, you are simply scanning the space and reporting any concerns.
- Fliers with information about the Health and Safety Checks will be available for you to pick up as the date approaches
- A campus wide email will go out informing residents of this process.
