Rattler News
Newsletter for the February 20th, 2023
Message from Mrs. Chavira, Campus Principal
Rattler Community,
I want to wish everyone a Happy Presidents Day this upcoming Monday. As a reminder, Socorro ISD will be having class this Monday, February 20th on normal schedule. We will see all of our Rattlers on Monday.
This past week we were able to take time to celebrate our Rattlers and their great accomplishments. This past week our Lady Rattlers and Mighty Rattler Basketball teams continue to make us proud with their team efforts. We are able to see stronger and more committed players after each practice and game. Thank you parents for your support as we bring this great opportunity to our Rattlers. We are also proud to announce our Math Bee Winners, Lexia readers and much more. Thank you parents for supporting our Rattlers interests. This week we will be having our last week of Rattler Round-up and our final Saturday Camp for the Third Marking Period.
Our teachers will begin to work on our Intersession plans. We highly encourage any students that receive an invitation to attend. Spring Break will run from March 6th through the 17th. Intersession Camp will run from Monday, March 6th through the 9th.
Please continue reading our newsletter for important updates and events happening this week. Things you will find below include

PBIS Committee selling Smencils $1
Smencil Sales will continue for the next 2 weeks😊. Students can purchase pencils in the morning or during lunch. Proceeds will help fund our PBIS Store that students use to redeem their Dusty Dollars they have earned.
Device and Chargers
1. Make sure students do not remove labels that have their names on them
2. Ensure that Rattlers bring their chargers to school daily
As a reminder: If students break their device or screen, please have them take the device to the campus library Please do not take them to a 3rd party vendor. Any work on our district devices will void their warranty.
Thank you for your support.
Pre-Payed Spring Picture Day
Hot Shots will be on campus on Tuesday February 22nd for Spring Pictures. Students have received an order form to pre-purchase these photos. Only students purchasing photos will be photographed and can wear their Sunday’s best. Students must have their envelope with money by 8 am on Tuesday as the photographer will only be on campus until 10 am.
Students that are not taking their picture can wear uniform tops and bottoms.
SPRING FUNDRAISER: Kettle Corn Fundraiser
Spring Kettle Corn Fundraiser
This we kicked off our Spring fundraiser. Our campus will be selling delicious Kettle Corn in a variety of sizes and flavors. Your child should have received a form that will allow you to collect preorders and money from friends, family, and neighbors. All money raised will help to provide transportation for grade level field trips. With this fundraiser, the campus will earn 50% of the cost of every bag to help reach our goal.
Students will have until Wednesday, March 1st to collect preorders and payment. Money and form can be turned in anytime between today and March 1st. Our local vendor will pick up the orders from our campus and deliver freshly popped Kettle Corn when students return from Spring Break on March 21st.
Student Incentives:
Sell at least $50 = Free Dress Pass for a Week
Sell at least $100 = Earn a Free Large Bag of Original Kettle Corn
Should you need another order form or would like to turn in money to the office, please visit the campus during the school day from 8 am to 3 pm.
Thank you in advance for supporting our Spring Fundraiser!

Attendance Reminders
We know our students will become ill throughout the year. For this reason it is important that when our students are healthy, they are attending school everyday. Lost instructional days do not only impact your child's education but also the education and dynamics of all students in the classroom. For this reason, MAKING EVERYDAY Count is critical for the success of your child and all students on campus.
The state of Texas holds administrators and parents accountable for attending school daily. At 5 absences or tardies, you will be asked to have a meeting with administration to make sure we are working together to educate your child. Please help support our teachers by brining in your children ready to learn. We thank you for making attendance a priority.
It is vital to submit a NOTE, from the doctor or a personal note, for EVERY absence to explain why the child missed school.
You can email all Personal and Doctors Notes to: attendancesueshook@sisd.net
