Lee Elementary - End of Year Celebrations

Dear Parents,

In an effort to ensure safety and expedite the check in procedure for Awards Day, we are sending home pre-made identification sticker/s. When attending your child’s event, please use the attached sticker/s and bring a photo ID. If you have extended family that you would like to include in the celebration, please fill out the bottom part of this letter and return it to school. They, too, need to bring a photo ID. Tables will be set up outside to verify identification. You will find the schedule for awards day below.

Important to note: only adults and children (not of school age) are allowed to attend award ceremonies. It is district policy that older siblings will not be allowed to attend any activities during the school day. This includes Lee, middle and/or high school aged students.

To keep the focus on students and their achievements, we will kindly ask you leave balloons, flowers and any celebratory items them at home. These items will not be allowed back in the instructional area and any brought will be left at the front desk for parent pick-up.

Thank you for your continued cooperation with our school safety procedures.

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE

All Lee library books should be turned into the school library. Students and parents should check around their homes (under beds, in drawers, on book shelves etc…) for any library books and turn them in as soon as possible. Lost library book(s) should be paid for before the end of the school year.

Lost and Found

Dear Parents - Our lost and found is overflowing! We have a lot of jackets, sweaters, lunch kits, etc. that need to be claimed. Please come look through the baskets in the cafeteria and see if you can find anything that belongs to your student. Anything not claimed by June 1st will be donated to charity. Please note that small lost items like eye glasses are in the front office.

Notes from the Nurse…

If your child has medication in the clinic, an adult should pick it up from the school by the end of the day on Friday, June 1st. Any medication not picked up by then will be disposed of on June 1st. Thank you for your cooperation and have a wonderful summer!

Credit By Exam

Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.

To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.

Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.

If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor. Applications are due June 1, 2018.

Reminders from the Registrar

If your child is currently enrolled in Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D., and over the summer you move within the district, the new campus will request your child's records from his/her previous school after you register. New student registration will be held on August 13 – 17, 2018. Also, Lee report cards will not be handed out if your child is not in attendance on the last day of school on June 1st. If you have any questions, please call the attendance office at 713-849-8285.
