THE MADISON FUN RUN HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!
Mark your calendars for Thursday, 9/23 - Fun Run Day
This week, students officially kicked off what will be a fun couple of weeks of celebrating Madison pride and helping raise funds through the Madison Fun Run program. This year, the Fun Run will take place on Thursday, 9/23 (rain date is Monday, 9/27). We would love to have you with us on the 23rd to help cheer on the students as they complete their laps! (See below for the schedule of when your student will be running.)
If you want to help volunteer, feel free to reach out to contact Sarah Tobeck or Cecilia Horejas for more information.
We’ve partnered with a company called Booster to help make getting donations fun and easy. Here’s a video you can watch that will give you a brief overview of the program.
Here’s what we are asking you to do:
Register your student on MYBOOSTER.COM
Create a Student Star Video
SHARE your student’s fundraising page with family and friends
DONATE if you are able to
Mark your calendar if you can join us: Thursday, September 23
ALSO, this weekend only, students can earn a BONUS PRIZE by getting pledges on mybooster.com. Check it out here.
Thanks for helping Madison raise funds this year!
Madison PTA Looking for More Volunteers
Art Appreciation
Nine in ten Americans believe it is important for K-12 students to receive an education in the arts. If you are part of the 90%, please consider volunteering for Art Appreciation. It is a terrific way to help in your son's or daughter's classroom once a month for about 20-30 minutes. Consider finding a partner and responsibilities can be shared. A schedule and materials will be provided for you. Please contact Abby Richardson via email at artappreciation@madisonschoolpta.org if you have any questions.
Multicultural Programming Chair
We are looking to evolve our traditional Multicultural Day and seeking a program chair willing to coordinate volunteers to help highlight various cultures throughout the year. Please contact Lauren DeReus via email at president@madisonschoolpta.org if you have any questions.
Explore More Day
Held the Friday before Memorial Day. Daylong program of learning from parents, guest teachers and hands-on activities. We are in need of a Committee Chair to coordinate the overall event and Sub-committee volunteers. Sub-committee volunteers are also needed for each grade, along with volunteers to teach classes, and help instructors in class. Please contact Lauren DeReus via email at president@madisonschoolpta.org if you have any questions.

Walk to School Day Announced for October 6
Mark your calendars: October 6, 2021 is the annual Walk To School Day! Schools across the country participate in this annual Walk To School event! Walking saves money on gasoline and also promotes exercise for kids! So meet up with your neighbors and friends and make it a walking date. Kids who take the bus can participate in a walking/running course out in back of the school before the bell rings.
District 200 Meets, Shares Opportunity for Public Input
At the September 8 meeting, the Board met and submitted two main opportunities for public commentary:
- The Board approved to post 12 new policies for public review and comment. For questions or to make public comments regarding Proposed Board Policy, please contact Dr. Charlie Kyle, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.
- The Board affirmed this year’s Vision 2022 Work Plans in the areas of learning, student services, innovation and technology, administrative services, business services and community engagement. Annually, the Board of Education sets goals and establishes priorities within the Vision 2022 Strategic Plan. Part of the work this school year includes finalizing the District’s Portrait of a Graduate that will inform the development of a new strategic plan in the Spring. There is an open invitation for the community to join for our first of two in-person community engagement sessions on Wednesday, October 27 at 7pm at Hubble Middle School to gather community input to finalize the Portrait of a Graduate.
