Kickoff to the school year! Welcome Back- We Missed You!
We have our teacher Meet and Greets tomorrow and Tuesday. We will have an opportunity for your child to take a back to school picture, so make sure they are dressed in something you like.
School begins on Wednesday via zoom. We are so ready and excited to start working with the kids again! Please remember that our focus right now is building relationships, setting routines, and expectations. We have new tools to utilize as well, so please be patient as we get into the swing of how we will do things.
One of the professional development focus areas was social emotional learning. A piece of this learning for teachers was on self-care and work-life balance. I have asked all teachers to set non-working hours that they will not be available to zoom or responding to emails unless it is an emergency. Please respect these working hours for our staff as we are supporting their work-life balance.
We can't wait to see you all! As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Grab & Go Meals
The “Grab & Go” Monday-Friday breakfast and lunch program will continue while students are learning virtually during the start of the 2020-21 school year. Our Chartwells employees will continue to prepare meals, which can be picked up at any school location from 11 am to 1 pm. You do not need to sign up to be able to pick up meals; however, the district will need to know the student’s name as families pick up meals. Families who would like to pick up meals for more than one day to reduce the number of trips to the school should contact Rachel Scheffing, Rachel.Scheffing@kirkwoodschools.org, to arrange the pick-up day and number of meals.
We will also deliver meals to families that cannot pick them up. If you would like to help deliver meals, please sign up using the online form.
Recorded Zoom Sessions
Prior to starting the recording the teacher will announce that she will begin recording.
If you have not signed the media release during enrollment allowing your child's image to be posted, the teacher will turn off your child's camera.
He/She will then begin the recording. Upon completion, it will be uploaded into the schoology folder for that day.
Parents & Guests in Schools
No visitors should enter our buildings. Outside meetings are allowed - masks and social distancing. School staff members need to go outside for any pickup or drop off of items.
Learning Monitoring Program at Robinson
At Robinson, we have students who will be doing their online learning in small groups on campus under the supervision of a Teacher's Aide. These students will need to bring their school supplies that were purchased, as well as the school supplies that were given out by the school on their first day. Students and staff will be wearing masks and following all safety and health precautions.

Please note: Student courses will not be viewable until Monday, August 17. Courses become active on the first day of school.
Universal Schoology Structures
We heard you—KSD teachers developed a new universal Schoology structure for student learning. The universal structure of Schoology will ensure a streamlined process of learning for Kirkwood students (K-12). The screen capture of this structure is included.

KSD N.O.W. - Nutrition on the Weekends
Registration for the 2020-2021 School Year
Kirkwood School District offers the KSD N.O.W. program to supply an array of nutritious, non-perishable meals and snacks for children experiencing food insecurity over weekends and extended breaks, free of charge. During the 2020-21 school year, boxes will be distributed to families at their homes via delivery in a discrete and caring manner once per month.
If you wish for your child(ren) to participate in the program, please complete the online form. Only one form is needed for all the school-aged children in your family, but please include information for each child on the form. This information is kept confidential between KSD N.O.W. and your child’s school.
Once your child is signed up, they will receive boxes of food each month of the school year or until you no longer wish to participate. KSD N.O.W. operates with a first come, first served model. If your form is received after the capacity has been reached, you will be placed on a waitlist.
If you have any questions or need a paper form, please contact program coordinator Emilie Lytton at ksdnow@kirkwoodschools.org. All inquiries will remain confidential.
Thank you.
