One Down and a Few More To Go...

Thank you for helping make last week's STAAR testing a success. Everything went well and it seems that the students were prepared for the tests.

You all played a huge role in preparing our students and I appreciate each one of you for your efforts. We do work in a great environment with awesome students, but a lot of the successes we experience is because of the continued dedication to teaching in the classroom.

This Week

Kendyl, Sara, and I will be at iLead this Wednesday morning – please help cover morning/lunch duties if you are able.

Thursday is Cause Day, jeans are acceptable!

Students will have an opportunity to purchase spring pictures and have their pictures taken on Friday, April 8. Pictures will be taken through science classes. Only students that pre-pay for pictures will take a photo.

We had many great student accomplishments over the weekend. Science Fair, Reflections Contest, and Orchestra. Click here for details.

Also, congratulations to Anya and Gregg who were honored at the Beal Bank Science Fair SMU Luncheon on March 22 for their dedication to supporting students' science research. My understanding is a monetary award came with this honor!!!

AVID Summer Institute

Rice has 4 spots for staff members for this summer's AVID institute. Please email Cristi Dyer if you would like to attend. You will need to plan on being on the Rice AVID site team next year.

Here is the rest of the info.

What: AVID Summer Institute

When: June 22-24

2. If this is their first time to go to SI, then they should choose one of the strands for their subject area.

3. Yes, they will get a DART pass to travel to the conference.

From Instructional Technology. Please also email me if you plan on applying:

We are beginning the application process for ETSI 2016. Our Educational Technology Success Initiative will take place August 1-5 at McMillen High School. We are in search of teachers who would like to increase their own knowledge of appropriate technology integration techniques and who are looking for leadership opportunities on your campus.

Rather than asking you to recommend participants like we’ve done in the past, we ask that you please forward this email to your professional staff members so that they all have the opportunity to apply. We will be back in touch with you to discuss the applicants from your school.

We also invite you to put August 4 on your calendar as the date to meet with your ETSI team members to plan for technology success on your campus for the 2016-2017 school year.

A copy of this email is also being sent to curriculum coordinators and former ETSI participants, so that they can encourage applications from the ed tech leaders who are familiar to them.
