Hopefully your students are more settled in to their routines and school work. Now it is time to get back to business! We have a lot coming up in the next few months,so we wanted to keep you updated on Counseling Events!
College Go Week!
Students had a great time celebrating College Go Week at the end of September! We had spirit days, daily college trivia, a door decorating contest and a selfie station at lunch! We had 30 students participate in our College Application Day as well. It was a great way to get students thinking about their post-secondary goals and options!
November 1st is the application deadline for most colleges & universities! Make sure to get those college applications in ASAP. If you need assistance, contact your student's counselor!

PSAT Testing- October 25th
All Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors will be taking the PSAT the morning of October 25th. The PSAT is an assessment that allows educators to measure student progress, propels students towards college and career readiness, is cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation and serves as an early entry point to $180 million in scholarship dollars. The test is 2 hours and 45 minutes and is a "rights only scoring" test, which means students are not penalized for wrong answers. The PSAT assesses Reading, Writing and Math skills students have developed through the years.

Unity Day - Wednesday, October 25, 2017
Help the Random Acts of Kindness Club at NHS celebrate Kindness and Unity this week!
This week is Unity Week, formerly known as Anti-Bullying Week. "Bullying" as a term has become outdated / jaded, but it is still alive and occurring. It is important to identify it so that you are able to help someone else or even yourself before the situation gets out of hand. The NHS Admin and Random Acts of Kindness club have joined together in order to ditch the label of bullying in search of a different solution. We are interested in addressing the root of the issue. If we are able to make each person feel like they are not alone, like they are loved, and like they are safe - we believe that we can make NHS a better place for us all.

- Enjoy some Compli-MINTS or Encourage-MINTS. We hope this makes the transition back to school a little easier.
- Add to the "I AM Poster in the Cafeteria!
- Wednesday: Wear ORANGE!!! Make it ORANGE and make it end! What are your true colors when it comes to bullying? If you care about safe and supportive schools and communities make your color ORANGE on Unity Day. That’s the day everyone can come together – in schools, communities, and online – and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Individuals across the nation, and even world-wide, can participate in Unity Day.
- Thursday: Pledge to stand up against bullying, advocate for unity, and strive towards kindness during your lunch time by signing a banner!!! There will be a suggestion box available for NHS to tell the RAK club what YOU want to see changed, ideas you have, or fun things we could do as a school.
- Friday: See the RAK Twitter page for the Finished "I AM. . ." Poster and other inspirational messages around the school.
Event Information
NHS Financial Aid Night
Navigating the college financial aid process and finding funding for college can be a confusing and overwhelming process. Many parents and students believe they are not able to attend college because they do not have the money to pay for it and do not know of resources available to help with costs. Because we know this can be a difficult process, we invite you to attend the Noblesville High School Financial Aid Night on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the NHS Auditorium. Information will include the different types of financial aid; federal and state financial aid; how to complete and file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Our presenter is a college financial officer. The presentation is free of charge.
There will be a special session following the presentation for the Class of 2018 21st Century Scholars at 7:00 p.m. in the Junior/Senior Cafeteria.
