What's Happening at ATP?
April 26 - 30, 2021
Message from the Coordinator...
As we come to the last six weeks of the school, we are not slowing down here at ATP! We continue to celebrate our NCCSE Excellence in Special Education Team Collaboration Award. We will be celebrating our teachers and staff in the upcoming Appreciation Weeks. We will also be celebrating those students who are completing our program in June. Whew! That is a lot of fun! While we enjoy having fun here at ATP, we also continue to work on our goals for our students. Our students are developing work skills as they set up our Thrift Store and Food Pantry. Other students are learning how to navigate the community safely through Community Based Instruction. See the pictures below for a look into our community learning.

Community Based Instruction (CBI)... this is what's been happening this week!
Community-Based Instruction (CBI) is a vital instructional tool for students in our program. This instruction occurs in various community environments and provides students “real life experiences.” The goal is to provide a variety of hands-on learning opportunities that will allow our students to practice essential skills to become more independent. All activities in the community support post-secondary education, employment, life skills, and independent living goals.
CBI provides natural opportunities for students to practice independent living skills. Concepts and skills from the classroom are practiced in natural environments. CBI experiences allow students to see, hear, smell and do things in real-life settings. Experience in the natural environment is reinforcing and assists in maintaining the relevance of lessons taught in the classrooms. Classrooms will schedule their CBI throughout their day. Some classes go out on CBI daily while other classrooms go out on different days and times throughout the week.
On Thursday night, our ATP team welcomed our incoming students from OHS and ECHS. It was exciting to see incoming students. Thank you to our teachers and staff who participated and assisted in welcoming our students.

Here is April's AT Newsletter

Have a great week!
Wear your Mask
Many are asking if we are still required to wear a mask, there is still a OUSD Mask Policy in place. We are encouraging and having all students wear their masks on campus throughout the day. For students who need assistance with wearing their masks, their teachers will work with them and provide the necessary accommodations to support our students' needs.
