Sparling Newsletter
Oct. 6, 2021
Dear Families
October has arrived and we sure have enjoyed the wonderful fall weather this year. With colder weather approaching it is a great time to dig out those warmer coats, gloves, mitts, and toques! Remember this Thursday is Early Dismissal at 2pm and we will be providing a FREE pizza lunch for ALL students including a gluten free option for those that need. Sparling will be adding a free hot lunch option weekly moving forward which is supported by the Alberta Nutrition Grant schools receive.
Thank you to our community for supporting the recent switch to At Home Learning for our Pre K - Grade 2 students. We recognize this isn't easy for families and appreciate the support as we continue to navigate the pandemic. At this time Sparling school continues to be on Respitory Illness Outbreak due to abseentism rates and cases of COVID connected to our school. Our status will be re-evaluated at the end of the week. Please review the Daily Checklist each morning and if your child is feeling unwell follow the steps indicated on the checklist. The checklist includes information regarding household close contacts and recommendations. In addition to what is already in place at our school, it has been made clear to us in our verbal notifications from Alberta Health Services on Friday of last week that an outbreak school should not be:
- participating in sports events with other schools
- taking field trips to indoor locations or to outdoor locations that have other people
and should be:
- strictly reducing visitors to their building.
- giving additional attention to hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene, masking, distancing, cleaning, etc.
Our School Council meeting is also upcoming on October 12 at 7pm. We will be offering both a virtual and in person option! We need your help and participation! At each council meeting the school team provides a report, seeks input on plans moving forward, and answers questions you might have. It is also an opportunity to discuss the COVID protocols and procedures and address any concerns or questions. This year we are also planning for an August, 2022 playground build and we would love to share the plans with you and get your input! Please see the detailed information below in the newsletter.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please contact us at the office anytime.
Sincerely,
Andrea Gutmann
