Principal’s Pen
Brrrrr! This week has been cold. Even when it’s cold and windy, play and time outside are important parts of the school day. We use the following guidelines for outside recess. These are guidelines only and not meant to be a substitute for professional judgment.
Below 10 degrees = stay inside
10-15 degrees = outside for 15 minutes and inside for the rest of recess, NO MORE than 15 minutes outside at this range
15 degrees and up = go outside
**Temperatures include temperature/wind chill.
Students should come to school with appropriate gear for outside play. A student should not wear a ‘hoodie’ all day, and then expect that it will keep them warm at recess. Students should have a winter coat, gloves/mittens, and headgear to keep them warm while outside for 15-25 minutes. On days with fluctuating temperatures, students should dress in layers. We will send students to recess with the outerwear that they bring to school.
Label! Label! Label!
Label! Label! Label! Your child should be wearing a heavy coat, gloves, and hat to school every day during cold weather. Please label the inside of your child’s cold-weather gear with their name.

Unit C
This week in Science, Unit C began our Health unit. First up is nutrition. We began a discussion of setting goals for healthy living. We would like to encourage each family to have discussions at home about what this means.
