Cambrian School District, August 7, 2020
Dear Cambrian Families,
We look forward to welcoming all of our students back for the 2020-21 school year on Wednesday, August 19th in full Distance Learning (Click here to view the link to schedules).
We were pleased to hold a Reopening Welcome to Cambrian School District event on Tuesday, August 4, with over 900 individuals attending. During the informational event, our team explained details of guidelines, safety and a preview of the rigorous Distance Learning program for the school year. Cambrian School District will provide robust online teaching and learning.
Like our students and staff, we look forward to the day when we are able to return to campuses for in-person instruction. We also know that safety is paramount. While we may not be offering a Hybrid blended in-person learning model at this time, we know that a strong Distance Learning plan will be a foundational component for either Hybrid blended in-person learning or a 100% Distance Learning model. Cambrian School District staff is committed to providing a Learning Continuity Plan that honors commitment to high-quality teaching and learning for all students.
Our teachers and staff have been working enthusiastically over the summer in preparation for this coming year. As we start the year in Distance Learning, we encourage you to take a moment to review the attached Cambrian School District Distance Learning & Virtual School Program Guidelines for Students and Parents. The handbook is available both in English and Spanish, which includes updated guidelines, expectations, tips and resources to support a robust Distance Learning and Virtual School Program for the 2020-21 school year. The program, aligned to grade-level standards, will be provided at a level of quality and intellectual challenge substantially equivalent to in-person instruction.
This guide is intended to complement the information that is continually updated and added to the District’s dedicated Reopening for the 2020-21 School Year section on the CSD webpage and the Distance Learning Virtual School webpage.
Please note, the first day of school lands on a Wednesday, August 19th, which will usually be a full asynchronous distance learning day with time for teacher collaboration and planning. In order to build positive rapport with students and make classroom connections on the first day, Wednesday will be a full day combining both synchronous and asynchronous learning. As such, Friday, August 21st will be a full asynchronous learning day for students while staff will be planning and collaborating. In preparation for the first day of school you will receive on Tuesday, August 18th a welcome communication letter from your child’s teacher and/or school as to the specific schedule details and how your child can login to connect on the first day of school.
We are eager to begin what promises to be a unique school year and appreciate your continued partnership as we work to create a consistent, engaging routine for students. Our staff is privileged to serve the families of Cambrian and look forward to seeing smiling student faces soon. Please be safe and well. We are CAMBRIAN.
