7th Grade Girls County Champs

The seventh grade girls basketball team along with some 6th grade girls to fill in won the County Tourney on Saturday 2/6/16. Tourney was held at Monroe Central with the girls playing two games. They squared off with Union at 10:00 in the first round and defeated Union by a whopping score of 43 to 4. Then they played Randolph Southern in the Championship game at 1:00 and defeated RS by the score of 29 to 21. Breaking a very tight ballgame going into the 4th quarter by pulling away from the Rebels. Lady Indians were lead by McKinsey Charles in the championship game with 13 points followed closing by Jodi Carpenter with 11 points.

The team ended their season Saturday with this big County Championship with a record of 12 wins and 8 losses. This is the same team that only won one game last year as 6th graders. What a great turnaround and great teamwork by the whole team. 7th grade was coached by Ron Holt and was assisted by Tim Adelsperger and Wayne Pratt. Also coaching in the JH was Michael Dean as the 8th grade coach.

Eighth Grade had another fine season this year going 16 and 6 on the year and finished third in the County. They lost their first game yesterday to a very talented Monroe Central Lady Bears team by the score of 44 to 28. Our Lady Indians were playing short handed with one of their starters being out injured. The Lady Indians came back later in afternoon in consolation game and defeated the Union Rockets by a score of 58 to 1. These girls have a bright future ahead of them as they move up to play for the High School teams. It should be a fun group to watch in the future.
