MN STUDENT SURVEY
The Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) is one of the longest-running youth surveys in the nation. It is a triennial survey that began in 1989. The survey is an anonymous statewide school-based survey conducted to gain insights into the world of students and their experiences. The MSS will be administered to students in grades five, eight, nine, and 11.
Questions on the survey are about many topics relating to young people’s lives. The survey asks about how well school is going, future plans, out-of-school activities, physical and mental health, relationships, substance use and more. High school students are asked about sexual behavior. This useful information about their thoughts and behaviors helps communities and schools develop effective programs and provide better services.
Students in grade eight, nine, and eleven will be taking the survey on March 30. The survey is expected to take 30-50 minutes to complete. Students will need to complete the survey in a single session, which means they will not be able to pause the survey and come back to it later. Parents have the option to opt out their student from participating in the survey. If you wish to opt out your student please click here to complete the form.

ROCORI PROUD CHANGES
Over the past year ROCORI School Board members reviewed the ROCORI Proud award process with the goal of recommending improvements to this recognition. Their recommendations were brought to the full School Board for discussion. The School Board approved the updated format including making this an annual award. A nomination form was created and can be found at this link https://www.rocori.k12.mn.us/information/school-board/community-rocori-proud. A paper copy can be requested from Holly Gazett at the District Office.
The nomination form requires at least one statement of support for the nominee be from district leadership, building administration, school staff, or a parent organization. Additional persons or organizations are also welcome to contribute a statement of support. The School Board requests completion of the nomination form no later than February 28th to allow the ROCORI Proud Committee sufficient time to review the nominations. Finalists will be selected and brought forward for acknowledgement at a School Board Meeting in March. Recipients of the award will also be invited to the annual ROCORI “Evening with the Stars” banquet in May to join the celebration and be recognized for their contributions. The School Board is excited about this process improvement and looks forward to recognizing our community members through the updated ROCORI Proud Award. We appreciate your nominations.
Sincerely,
ROCORI School Board
