Cartooning and Animation
How it works
The Basics
Cartooning is a great job, and unlike normal art, they use their work to tell stories, that often are humorous. Cartoons can be used to tell about important topics in our world today. There are many types of cartooning jobs such as political, comic strip, and television cartoonists. The average salary is 30,000-60,000 a year
Famous Cartoonists
A few cartoonists you may know are, Walt Disney, Matt Groening, Seth MacFarlane, Bill Watterson, and Garry Larson. As we all know, Walt Disney is the creator of Disney, and Disney land. Bill Watterson was the creator of the popular comic "Calvin and Hobbs" Matt Groening is the creator of the Simpsons, and Futurama. Seth MacFarlane is also the creator of Family Guy, and American Dad. Finally Garry Larson is the creator of the far side. (ex. Down there)
A little history of Steamboat Boat Willy
If you can't tell Steam Boat Willy is always played before every Disney movie. But that is just a short part of the cartoon. It was made in 1928 and is the first Disney cartoon ever made. Why its seems so badly made is because Walt Disney drew it by hand.

Where the word "cartoon" came from
The word originated from France and means " strong heavy, pasteboard" Kind of odd definition don't you think?
The first colored animated cartoon
The first colored animated cartoon "Flowers and Trees" The cartoon was originally black and white, but when Walt Disney saw the color tests, he decided that Flowers and Trees was the perfect cartoon to put in color. Because of the success of Flowers and Trees he decided to put all cartoons in "Silly Symphonies" in three strip Technicolor.
