The Lithuanian flag was created in 1918 replacing the Vytis. The Soviet Union took control again, outlawing the flag in 1944. Lithuania got it back in 1989.

Five of the major cities are Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Palanga, and Siauliai. Vilnius is a popular tourist place because of its medieval architecture and history. Klaipeda and Palanga are popular for their beaches and boardwalks.
Geographic Features
Lithuania has mostly plains, lakes, and rivers in the country. It's mostly a flat county with the highest hill being 293.8 meters above sea level. Most of the land is water since there is an estimate of 22,000 rivers and streams and almost 3,000 lakes.

Before Lithuania switched their currency to euros, they had litas. 1 US dollar would equal 3.05 litas.
