Spanish
Junior Kindergarten has been learning about days, months, seasons, and weather.
Kindergarten has been learning about vocabulary words for family and also the Spanish ABCs.
1st Grade has been learning about family vocabulary and separating the vocabulary into boys and girls.
2nd Grade has learned about where the different Spanish countries are and some facts about them. They also learned about the verb "gustar" and created sentences about things they like.
3rd Grade has learned about where the different Spanish countries are and their capitals. They also were able to view different monuments and landmarks located throughout Spain.
4th Grade has learned about where the different Spanish countries are and their capitals. They have also learned about the Spanish ABCs and named a word for each letter.
5th Grade has learned about where the different Spanish countries are and their capitals. They have been researching different facts about the various countries and are creating a "Keynote" presentation on their iPads.

Health
JK: The Junior Kindergarten students have been learning about stranger safety. They are able to identify who strangers are and ways to get help if a stranger tries to approach them.
K: The Kindergarten students are finishing a unit on Food for Health. Throughout the unit the student learned about creating balanced meals based upon MyPlate.
1st: The First grade students finished a unit on Your Teeth. The students are able to identify different types of teeth and the roles they play in eating. They are also able to identify the importance of caring for teeth, such as brushing and flossing properly, protecting teeth from injury, and visiting a dentist.
2nd: The second grade students started a unit on Caring for Your Teeth. The students are able to identify foods that keep teeth healthy. They are also able to describe and demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques. They are also able to explain the importance of visiting the dentist regularly.
3rd: The third grade students finished a unit on Taking Care of Yourself. The students are able to identify ways to maintain healthy hygiene habits. They can also identify skills that create good buying decisions as a consumer.
4th: The fourth grade students finished a unit on Food and Your Health. The students learned about the basic nutrients and their functions in the body. They are able to create balanced meals using MyPlate. They are also able to describe basic safety techniques for handling and preparing foods.
5th: The fifth grade students finished a unit on Being a wise Consumer. The students learned the importance of good personal hygiene and how it is related to staying healthy. They are also able to identify the basic structure and function of the eyes and ears and ways to keep them healthy. They are also able to analyze reliable health information from a variety of sources.

1st Grade
Junior kindergarten: We will read Too Much Glue and finish our guinea pig collage practicing our cutting and gluing skills!
Kindergarten: We will read Chancay and the Secret of Fire A Peruvian Folk Tale by Donald Charles and work on our Tambo the fish collage. We use cut up shapes to create a shape pattern on our fish.
First grade will read Chancay and the Secret of Fire A Peruvian Folk Tale by Donald Charles and begin the recycled art project of making maracas in water bottles.
Second grade will read Chancay and the Secret of Fire A Peruvian Folk Tale by Donald Charles and begin to draw and paint a patterned fish like Tambo in Florescent colored paint.
Third grade will finish the story quilt picture of their summer adventure in the style of Faith Ringgold and make a Mexican "tin" ornament.
Fourth grade will finish their paper molas and learn about symmetry. Their next project is South American masks from Brazil’s Carnival.
Fifth grade will work on the Calacas boxes and critique their work.
