Administrators' Message
Dear Sandymount Families and Staff~
I want you to know that you are appreciated. It does not go unnoticed that our Sandymount families are going above and beyond to ensure students attend class, complete assignments, and learn through a virtual platform. Teachers and staff are doing everything in their power to connect with students, develop engaging lessons, acquire new technology skills to assess student learning and provide supports for academic success.
The work that we are doing TOGETHER this year means so much to our students. As we all know, our students are amazing! Throughout these challenging times, our students have demonstrated strength, compassion, and resilience. Thank you for modeling these extraordinary qualities each day!
Let’s continue to work together and trust that decisions made are in the best interest of students. Let’s continue to build each other up and display acts of kindness, empathy and understanding. Our students are counting on us!
Together, it’s Possible!

100% Virtual student pictures will be taking place Wednesday February 17th from 4-6:45pm at Sandymount Elementary. The photographers would like to schedule 12-15 virtual students every 15 minutes. It's important for all students to try and have their picture taken on their specific date so that their picture can be in the yearbook. All students are assigned their specific days and times to accommodate all classmates whether virtual or hybrid. Please refrain from sending your child on a day other than the one they are assigned, as they will not be able to get their picture taken.
To order picture packages you may go online mylifetouch.com, using picture day ID EVTRCZKR9 or you may have your student bring the flier you will receive in this email as an attachment along with payment to hand to the photographer at the time of pictures. The PTA is still putting together a yearbook for the 2020/21 school year! We NEED your help!
We now have a way for parents and teachers to upload pictures for the yearbook. If you already have a Shutterfly account you can log into it or you can create a new one. Go to SESYearbook.Shutterfly.com. Once you get logged on, click “Ask to become a member” in the top right. Be sure to include your students teachers name in the message. Once it has been approved, you will be able to upload pictures from your computer or you can use the app on your phone.
If anyone has pictures of Sandymount students having fun together outside of school or during breaks please add them to the album “After School Fun”.

Inclement Weather Procedures for Hybrid Instruction
In the event of inclement weather on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, we will be reverting to our typical snow day policies. This means that should schools close on any of these days due to inclement weather, there will be no instruction and it will be considered a snow day. Should schools open 2 hours late due to inclement weather on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, instruction will begin 2 hours later than the usual start time. Schools will send reminders/updates regarding schedules during 2 hour delays.
If we experience inclement weather on a Wednesday, when all students are scheduled to be in virtual learning, instruction will continue as planned. There will be no school delays or snow days on Wednesdays.
During the inclement weather season, you will continue to receive notifications through the SchoolMessenger parent notification system. Announcements also will be posted on the following:
- CCPS Facebook and Twitter accounts
- CCPS website
- CETV – Channel 21 on Comcast Cable
- Local and regional radio and television stations.
