School District 622

December 17, 2020 - Update from Superintendent Tucci Osorio

Dear 622 Families,

Yesterday, Governor Tim Walz announced new guidelines that allow us to begin bringing preschool and elementary grades back to ‘in-person’ classes beginning January 19, 2021. Based on the Governor’s guidance, we cannot bring all grades back at once, so we will have three grade levels returning to in-person classes on different start dates.

We are currently reviewing the new guidance and will be meeting with our teams to determine the next steps for our preschool and elementary-aged students.

The update also extended the pause on in-person athletics and activities until January 4. If your child participates in a winter sport or activity, you will be communicated with separately from your high school activities department.

COVID rates for both Ramsey and Washington counties have remained very high, and we still see case rates near or above 100 cases per 10,000 residents. The updated guidance does not loosen restrictions for our secondary students, which indicate distance learning for case rates at 50 or higher. At this time, we expect to keep students in grades 6-12 in distance learning at least through the month of January.

I will be sure to send you another update by Tuesday, December 22.

Warm Regards,

Christine Tucci Osorio
