CHHS Weekly Schedule Change - Weeks of February 22 and March 8
The state-mandated ACT will be administered to 11th graders on Tuesday, February 23, and Tuesday, March 9. These test administrations involve a significant amount of instructional staff serving as test administrators. To avoid loss of synchronous instructional time we will move the Tuesday synchronous day to Wednesday on those weeks. This will not impact the current schedule for our Adapted Curriculum students. Click on the link below to view the schedule.

Senior Tribute Ads
Another month has just ticked off the calendar bringing us ever closer to a return to in-person classes as well as bringing us ever closer to your student's impending graduation!! Additionally, March brings the yearbook staff ever closer to our final deadline and completion of this year's publication. I only mention the things listed above as time seems to be speeding up and before you know it the yearbook will be completed and if you haven't purchased a Tribute Ad for your student, and wanted to, that opportunity will have been missed.
We have sold 75% of our allocation for Tribute Ads to date so if you would like to put this ever-lasting tribute to your student's hard work over their K-12 years you should act quickly. The process to create, get a proof, and pay for the ads is quite simple as all you have to do is go to www.yearbookordercenter.com, use the code 15298 to find out school, locate your student's account, then follow the steps for producing and paying for a Tribute Ad.
If you run into any problems or have any questions you can also contact me directly at tstanfa@chccs.k12.nc.us and I will do my best to assist you or get you the answers you need.
Lifetouch School Pictures
Parents, if your 9th, 10th, or 11th grader took pictures with Lifetouch earlier in the year those pictures are now available for pickup in the main office of the school during school hours. Even if you did not order pictures there will be a package for you with a proof sheet and directions on how to order them if you are so inclined.
The yearbook staff is moving right along in producing a truly unique yearbook, if you are planning to order a yearbook for your student it would be helpful to do so earlier rather than wait for later in the year as we will be solidifying our order total by the end of March. We do not plan to order a lot of extra yearbooks to be made available for sale on yearbook distribution day so if you want to guarantee that your student has one please order on our publisher's website at www.yearbookordercenter.com, use the code 15298 to find our school, then just follow the steps to order a yearbook.

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL): Your Weekly Tip
A core element of what makes us social and emotional beings is our capacity for Perspective-Taking. Perspective-Taking is a learnable skill that helps us to take another person's point of view, and even recognize other people's thoughts and feelings. Perspective-Taking is the beginning of Empathy; it asks us to acknowledge that there are many ways to see and experience the world. Practice your Perspective-Taking skills this week by seeking out other people's opinions about certain topics and try to listen without judgment. Try to think back to how you came to have such strong opinions about that topic, such as through personal experience, something you read, or if it was the opinion of someone you cared about, and then find some common ground.
