ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EXCEPT WHEN SEATED AT LUNCHES). Students refusing to wear their mask will be sent home.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Hello GRHS Longhorns,
2nd six weeks progress report grades will be posted by Tuesday in SKYWARD! Remember, our 2nd six weeks is a shorter one (only 5 weeks) please make sure you are staying on top of your assignments so you aren't surprised or ineligible at the end of the six weeks. (November 6th)
3rd six weeks learning modality choice is NOW CLOSED! We will have about 1700 Longhorns back with us face to face starting the second week in November. The district deadline for requesting a change in learning model for the third six weeks was Friday, Oct. 23 and NO CHANGES in learning model will be accepted now. We are now reworking our master schedule to relevel classes that we can to accommodate for more f2f students returning.
Masks/ID's/Dress Code ALL STILL MANDATORY (My Longhorns need to tighten this up.)
*JUST A QUICK REMINDER...any student refusing to properly wear their mask will be written up and receive consequences. (this will effect possible exemptions they will be able to earn for final semester exams). The only way we can STAY on top of our new COVID normal (and be face to face) is to ALL follow the rules and safety protocols. We appreciate your adherence to the expectations and your understanding as we are all doing our best to keep the positive cases down and keep GRHS up and running for our Longhorns!
Please see the updated Spirit Week Flyer...there have been some CHANGES due to multiple Fort Bend Schools and entire programs having to quarantine, which means we had to reschedule multiple football games. This is all the MORE reason for us to be wearing our masks and being smart when we are out at public events such as friend/relative parties, sporting events/practices, grocery shopping, and just about everywhere...we don't want to be one of the statistics where an ENTIRE program has to quarantine and forfeit games. Hard work doesn't mean anything if we don't work "smart" and get knocked out of the running on a technicality. That would be heartbreaking for the teams.
GRHS Student Driver Warning (one last time)
If you are not being safe and adhering to the flow patterns in the parking lots at arrival and dismissal each day your parking privileges will be suspended. refuse to have anyone hurt because you want to be out of the parking lot 5 minutes earlier, and traffic is way lighter due to all the virtual learners, so please make sure you are following the rules and practicing safety. Thanks for your help!
*Multi-Purpose Construction start this week! Parking spots have shifted. All students affected were informed last week and given a new parking spot tag as this will be a permanent move due to construction not being finished until June of 2021. The OUTSIDE main gym entrance will be closed off and students will be directed to use one of the alternate entrances to enter the building starting October 26th. New sidewalks are being poured and safety striping is being added in the next two weeks. New signage will be added to inform everyone, including visitors/spectators coming to cheer on our Longhorns in the gyms of where the entrances will now be.
Proctorio (EXAM PROCTORING) is now here!
Proctorio has been purchased by the district to use as a proctoring, or monitoring, option for Canvas quizzes in high school accredited courses. Proctorio uses video, audio, and other features to flag abnormalities detected while students take the quiz. It also protects your content by securing browser settings and locking down other aspects of the computer so your assessments keep their validity. (see below to learn more)
AP Registration is now OPEN and DUE SOON! Students currently enrolled in an AP course need to log into Total Registration to pay for your AP exam by October 30th!

Proctorio Student Resources are Located in the Student Canvas Toolbox Course!
GRHS HS teachers were trained on Proctorio this past week and will be using it moving forward to help maintain test security and reduce cheating. Teachers will be reviewing this with their classes moving forward this week.
Proctorio is a web-based proctoring program that has just been purchased by the district to be used with high school accredited courses. This program will monitor students as they are taking an online exam so that teachers can be notified of any suspicious activity that takes place.
Before you are able to take your test, a couple of steps must be completed:
- Google Chrome must be installed on your laptop or desktop computer. Proctorio does not work with a phone or other mobile device. If you need to download and install Google Chrome, the directions can be found here: Install Google Chrome.
- The Proctorio Chrome Extension must be installed on the computer.
The video and/or step-by-step instructions (in the Canvas Course linked below) will guide you through this process.
If you are using a district provided computer, you can skip these steps as both Chrome and the extension have both been installed. If you are using a personal computer, you will need to follow the steps below to install the extension.
