Family School Collaborative Updates & Reminders

March FSC Meeting

The FSC Leadership had a productive meeting at the beginning of the month. We discussed school events, budgetary issues, and community well being. Here are the minutes of our meeting, for those interested.

The April FSC meeting will again be for the FSC Leadership Board only. The next all-school FSC meeting will take place on Thursday, May 19th. Please join us for refreshments and mingling at 6pm, with the meeting starting at 6:30. This will be an important meeting--the last of the school year. Please mark your calendars!

If you're interested in joining one of our committees (fundraising, social/community, school health, programming, service), please click here and the committee chair will contact you soon.

The Book Sale Was a Success!

The book sale was a great success! We bought over $3,000 worth of books for the school library, our classrooms, and ourselves! The bake sale and craft tables made over $600 for the school, to be used toward purchasing more needed books. In addition, we earned a $750 gift certificate to purchase even more books at Greenlight! Through this endeavor, each classroom has been enriched with about 35 new books, and the Compass library has added about 50 new books!

Thank you to the planners Sara, Dawn, Satoko, Abigail, Ben, and all the volunteers for making this event such a great success!

Upcoming Events

"The Magic of Making Space as a Parent and Person," workshop led by Compass parent Dr. Meg Poe!

Monday, April 11th, 6:30-8pm

884 Pacific Street

The art of making space for ourselves can feel impossible, and yet it feeds directly into our creative life and our family's. Please join Dr. Meg Poe at Art Cafe for a talk and discussion over drinks on how to make space and why it is important.

Meg Poe is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice, and is professor of a class on love and connection at NYU.

This event will take place at Art Cafe + Bar. Due to this workshop being held off-site, the FSC will not be able to provide childcare for this event.

Sign up for the workshop here! Space is limited, so please sign up soon! Food and drink will be available for purchase. We hope to see you there!

Spring Fling and Silent Auction

Saturday, May 7th, 6-10pm

622 Degraw Street

Join us on Saturday May 7th for a fun night of live jazz, soul, and country music from the talented Compass community; plus a great DJ, food, cocktails, and a silent auction. The event will take place at Littlefield in the Gowanus neighborhood. It’s a great chance to mix and mingle with Compass families, and support the FSC at the same time — more details to come soon!

We are seeking donations for silent auction items (big and small!) that can be auctioned off at this event. If you have an item, service, or experience that you would be willing to donate, please let us know. No donation is too small--we hope to have items across all price points.

If you have a possible silent auction donation, or would like to be a part of the planning committee for this event, please e-mail Amanda or Josh. Thank you!
