Planning Ahead!

Spring break begins on Monday, April 11. There will be no school from Monday, April 11 through Monday, April 18. School resumes on Tuesday, April 19.

Order Your Yearbook at the Pre-Sale Price - THIS WEEK ONLY!

Yearbooks are for sale this week at the pre-sale price of $20.00! Fliers went home last week. Cash and checks accepted. Please complete the order form and have your child return it to his/her homeroom teacher. During the week of April 4th-8th, the price will increase to $25.00.

School Rules for a Positive Learning Environment: Gum

First, we'd like to express our sincere APPRECIATION to our families for helping us address some of the issues that we were experiencing that were negatively impacting the learning environment for our students. Over the last couple weeks, we've had far fewer issues with candy, personal belongings, and our dress code. Thank you!


This week, we'd like to remind all families and students that gum is not allowed on campus. Gum can be a danger on the playground, but also creates a huge issue for the cleanliness of our facilities. Gum that lands on the ground turns into black spots on sidewalks. When stuck under tables or desks, it's unhygienic and offensive.


Thanks for being sure that your student does not take gum to school. Thank you!

Seeking Volunteers for our World's Fair!

The GLC World's Fair is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 13th. The GLC World's Fair is an evening of fun and community, similar to the fall festivals held at other schools. We aim to also incorporate learning by featuring activities (e.g., games, crafts) from around the world! If you would like to assist with planning or volunteering, please let us know by completing our World's Fair Volunteer Survey.

Open House - Save the Date!

Our Open House this year will be an in-person event. Please mark the date on your calendar early to be sure you can attend. This is a great opportunity to recognize your child's hard work, celebrate his/her accomplishments, and reinforce the importance of school in your child's success! Open House this year will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

HEART Offering UTK for 2022-23

If you have a student who will be attending GLC next year as part of our new transitional kindergarten (UTK) program, the HEART program will also be serving this age group. HEART applications for the 2022-23 school year are available in the front office.

Enrollment for 2022-23

We are continuing to accept applications for the 2022-23 school year. If space is not available in your child’s grade, she/he will be placed on a waiting list by grade level. Seats will be offered on a first-come, first-serve, basis. We currently have waitlists at several grade levels. If you have friends or family who may be interested in attending GLC, please share this information with them. Applications are available on our website and in our front office.

Expanding access to Transitional Kindergarten

For the 2022-23 school year, the state of California is expanding access to transitional kindergarten programs. Students who will turn five by February 2nd, 2023, are eligible to enroll in universal transitional kindergarten (UTK). This is a new optional grade that precedes Kindergarten. Parents may opt to enroll their child in preschool or UTK. If you have a child who will turn 5 by 2/2/23 and would like her/him to attend GLC, please complete an Enrollment Requiest Form. More information about GLC's UTK program to come soon!

Homework Help!

The VUSD After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance is led by certificated VUSD teachers. For more information and to access the tutoring Zoom links, visit: www.vusd.org/aaa.
