PHS November Newsletter
November, 2, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians:
As our first quarter comes to a close, we can look back and reflect on the many great things that have been accomplished so far. We have had a successful opening quarter of the year, offering classes in person while serving others virtually. We have also had great successes with our activities and athletics with a couple teams heading off to state competitions, several individuals earning all state honors, and a couple conference championships. We have many things to be proud of, and many things to be hopeful for as we continue to strive forward. As we look into the winter months we will look for many opportunities to celebrate our time together! November is a month where we focus on the things that we are thankful for. Here at PHS we are thankful to work with great students and families every day.
Thank you for your continued support and positivity.
GO DUTCH!!!

Assistant PrincipalNovember 9th Parent-Teacher Conferences (Virtual)
Parent-Teacher conferences are just around the corner as November 9th quickly approaches. At the high school, we will be newcomers to the process of the virtual conferences format. It may be a little bumpy at times, but here are a few suggestions for making it as smooth as possible:
To access your conference links once you have them scheduled, there are two avenues: one, if you added the link to your Google, iCal, or Outlook calendar, you should be able to access the meeting link on that calendar event. Alternatively, you can search your email inbox for email that begins with “Confirmed:” Inside that email, you should see a blue link that reads “join now”. See the image below for additional help.
Please get set up and access the conference link a few minutes before your conferences begin. Check your volume and camera settings prior to the meeting.
Conferences slots are limited to 10 minutes so that teachers are able to provide a conference for as many students as possible. If you are unable to meet with a teacher, please contact that teacher by email to establish a time for future conversation.
The teacher will need to accept you into the Google Meet conference, so if you haven’t been allowed to join, please be patient as the teacher may not have quite finished with the conference before.
If you are waiting for your conference to begin, please know that the teacher is doing their very best to get to your conference on time. We thank you for your patience and grace as we continue to navigate new ways to connect with students and families.
Again, teachers enjoy collaboration with you to best serve our students, and we appreciate your flexibility in making this a safe process for all of us.
Campus Parent App for your phone or tablet

Official Transcript Request
If you need an official transcript sent to an educational institution, you must submit a request.

Please continue to check the Senior Bulletin for important dates for seniors and for local scholarship opportunities; the bulletin can be found on our school’s web page under the ‘Counseling’ link.
Have you moved? Do you have a new phone number or a new email address?
Parents can conveniently change their email, address, phone number, and child's emergency contact information on Campus Parent all under the MORE tab. Please see below for specific instructions:
MORE > ADDRESS INFORMATION - Update your household's address and primary phone number.
MORE > DEMOGRAPHICS - Update your child's emergency contacts.
MORE > FAMILY INFORMATION - Update parent and child phone numbers, email addresses, relationships, and contact sequence.
Requests for changes in your data won't happen immediately as the request waits in a queue for approval by the Pella Schools staff.
Questions about changing your information can be directed to Allissa Grandia by email at allissa.grandia@pellaschools.org.
What have we spent on school fees and school lunch?
Through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (ICPP) and the Campus Parent App, parents are able to see a journal on all fees paid to the Pella Schools for school fees and food service fees. See the steps below on how to see that fee journal:
Fees Journal: under Fees > Under Person Select “All” or a specific person > Select this school year > Select Type as “Paid” (This will show you fees paid on/after July 1, 2020.)
