History of the Team
In 1962 the team was called the colt.45 later they change it to the Houston Asthos. The team manager is A.J. Hiuch he's owned the team sines 2000's to now. A Houston star in the 1960's and 70's Larry Dierker returned as the manager in the 90's. Lefty Mike cueller was superb on the mound in 1966, ending the season with a 2.22ERA. Infielders Roger Metzger and Joe Morgan were the NL's top triples hit ters in 1971 (11 apiece).
Noble player's in the Houston Astron
Outfielder Roman Mejias supplied most of the first-year Colt.45's of fense driving in 76 runs. J.R. Richard was a grate pitcher in the 1970's. A great all-around player,Dickie Thon spent seven seasons with the Astros in the 1980's. In 1994 Jeff Begwell won the Gold Glove award for his defense and blasted 39 home runs. Infielder Lee May set a club record by getting at least one hit in 21 straight games in 1973.
