Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
It is great to be able to congratulate our students on the positive way in which they have started the school year, especially in the way they have handled the testing schedule that takes place at this time. Well done everyone.
Carpark Project
Thank you to parents who have either called or sent emails to offer assistance with the carpark project. Your support has been very much appreciated and your information has been forwarded to the architects managing our project.
Sundowner
It was such a pleasure to meet so many parents at the inaugural WCPS Parents and Staff Sundowner last Tuesday evening. Such a fabulous night all round. I take this opportunity of thanking Mrs Allison Falconer, Mrs Sue Massey and Mrs Suzanne Hunt for their co-ordination of ticketing, venue, food, drinks and music. Your organisation was great and again, thanks everyone!
School Logo
Our new school logo was launched at the Sundowner. This logo will be progressively phased in over the next five years. Many thanks to everyone involved in this process.
Boomerang Bags
I am really pleased to support two of our parents, Emma Keefe and Jacquie Morgan, on their proposal to coordinate, make and sell Boomerang Bags at school. Joining this global Boomerang movement is a fabulous initiative and a wonderful way of modelling to our children a practical approach to sustainability. Please read the P&F newsletter for more information on ways you can help out.
Parent-Teacher Interview: Term 1
Please note a change in the Parent/Teacher meeting schedule for 2018. Individual first semester Parent-Teacher meetings will be taking place on Wed 21 March from 12-6pm. Please keep this date free in your diary and more information will be available to parents, closer to the date. PLEASE NOTE THAT CLASSES FINISH AT 12NOON ON THIS DAY.
You are needed by the Canteen
The Canteen is in desperate need of some extra volunteers to make lunches for our children. If you can spare some time, please contact the front office or Nicole/Kerry in the Canteen, as many hands make light work. Thank you in aniticipation.
Kindest regards and best wishes for a wonderful week.
Many blessings

Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion story this week takes us to Jordan to meet 12 year old Bayan who with her family made the perilous journey from Syria. For Bayan the trauma of the conflict, and the disruption of her childhood, the Caritas Education Program in Jordan has been a source of encouragement. With this support Bayan looks with hope towards a future where she can finish her education and achieve her dreams.
The Project Compassion theme is 'A Just Future'. For Bayan and many other children around the world, a just future starts with a safe place to learn. The major humanitarian crisis which continues to unfold in Syria highlights the inevitable chaos when we forget we are one human family.
Programs such as these are an example of what a community like ours can contribute. By supporting and acting for justice and speaking out for the hundreds of thousands of children, women and men who have become displaced in Syria, we imitate Jesus taking action in the temple.
Your generous donations equip young people to succeed in the future, bringing stability to vulnerable youth…providing just futures for others like Bayan.
Bayan is receiving an education with the support of people like you. Her just future has started with a safe place to learn. A just future starts with you. You can read Bayan's full story at http://www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion#stories

Class News
Pre Kindy
This week's session focused on feelings and faces. The children used some natural materials to make a face that looked just like themselves!
Kindy
Pre Primary
We have had lots of fun in Pre-Primary having a look in the Life Ed Van. We got to meet Harold and learn all about what it means to be a good friend. We enjoy playing and working with our friends every day!
Year 1
We all had a great time visiting the Life Ed Van. We learnt about how to keep our bodies healthy with exercise, foods to eat often and those we only eat sometimes and different ways to stay safe.
Year 2
The Year Two children have been learning all about place value in Maths. We also had a bit of fun building with our MAB blocks.
Year 3
We have been reading “Fantastic Mr Fox”! We are so engaged and are really hoping that Mr Fox really is FANTASTIC and can escape those mean farmers who are out to get him! Have a look at our artwork!
Year 4
Maths is much more fun when we get to create our own numbers use dice and playing cards, challenge ourselves with carrying/ regrouping and get to do it on any surface in the room! Can't wait for tomorrow's lesson.
Year 5
We have been looking at measurement in Mathematics. We really enjoy measurement because it’s a very hands on subject and we get to use lots of things other than a pencil. For this activity, we measured walls, doors, tables, stools and boxes.
Year 6
We have been having fun learning all about expected vs observed probability in Maths. It’s been very hands on and engaging in our Maths lessons recently.
Kids of Mercy
Kids of Mercy: The ladies certainly learnt a lot last week. Sam shared all about the oil rig’s journey from Perth to Bass Strait and Sr Theresa learnt all about the Malta Cross from Chris. When the children bring something to show it really stimulates the conversation.
