Harry Houdini dies in Michigan hospital on Halloween night

Houdini, who unknowingly suffered appendicitis, died October 31, 1926. Houdini claimed he could withstand any blow to the stomach; J. Gordon Whitehead decided to test this statement. Harry needed time to prepare for the blows, time of which J. Gordon didn't give him, before repeatedly being punched in the gut. This made Houdini's appendicitis worse, however he refuse medical attention and continued to perform shows, with a 104 degree fever. He passed out during a show, got revived and continued; he died shortly thereafter of a ruptured appendix at 1:28 PM in Detroit's Grace Hospital on October 31, 1926.
