Advice From Gabby

Why Can't He Love Me?...
I have read your column for years, but I never thought that I would be writing to you. I've tried going to meetings of "Women who love too much" but I'm still hurting, so I thought maybe you could help me. My problem is that the guy I love doesn't want to be in the same room with me. He hates me! He loves another girl, but she doesn't love him back. I've been told to forget him, but I can't. I love him, though. How do I get him to love me back? How do I make him understand that no one will love him more than me?
Sincerely,
The Fragile One
He Can Love You
I see that you have been having problems with the one you love. You seem to love him to pieces, but he doesn't love you back. I wouldn't tell you to forget him, because that never works. Instead, I have a bit of advice for you.
One option for you would be to stay away from him until he needs you. Since he likes another girl who doesn't like him back, she might disappoint him enough for him to remember you. You were the one who truly loved him, and he might realize that he loves you back. However, there is one sacrifice you would have to make. You would have to be prepared to lose him forever, for he may never need you.
Another option for you would be to seek a wise Sorceress. As a mortal, it will be difficult to find a Sorceress: you must conjure her, bribe her and send her back. She could cast a spell on him or something. He will definitely love you back. The only problem is magic is tricky, and this has the potential to end dangerously.
To get him to love you back, you should either try to stay away from him, or try magic. Though these are good options, you must remember that bad may come from them. I wish
you the greatest luck, for you believe to love him truly. I hope he will love you so.
Sincerely,
Gabby of the Faries
Symbols for the Fragile One
Mockingbird
One problem Helena faced in this story, was that she thought that her friends were mocking her. To symbolize this I chose a mockingbird that repeats what you say in a mocking manner, as Helena was sure Lysander was doing. Later, Helena thought the other two were doing that as well like mockingbirds tend to mock each other as they mock someone else.
An Arrow Through the Heart
I chose and arrow through the heart to symbolize Helena's love for Demetrius. She always loved him, but he didn't love her back, and that alone must have punctured her heart. The fact that he was rude to her instead of at least trying to be nice must have totally punctured an arrow through her heart.
Yellow Rose
A yellow rose represents jealousy. Helena said she wanted to be like Hermia, because Demetrius loves Hermia. She wanted to be what Hermia was so that Demetrius would love her. She envies Hermia.
