PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou,

A very warm welcome to our new students Evie and Lachlan. Good on you for making a great start to your new school.

Last week was a busy one with Year 3-6 Athletics and the Year 4-6 Triathlon. A massive thank you to Emily Cooper for her wonderful organisation and to the staff and many community members who assisted us in providing these positive experiences for our tamariki.

A big thank you to Mrs Strand and the ukelele players who took part in the Ukelele Festival at HNI on Friday night. Great job team!

Peak Trail Blazer

The weather was on our side for once on Sunday with sunny, warm conditions for the Peak Trailer Blazer. Catherine Wedd, Hilary Davies, Jess Cranswick, Vicky Morris & Rebecca Jenks had done an amazing job of organising this event and we were well supported by our sponsors. The PTB is such a wonderful community event and it was so good to see it transpire again after Covid intervened last year. A special thank you to everyone involved. This was Robin Gray's last event as caretaker and it was heartening to see him recognised by the organising team for his great mahi. Thank you also to the staff who could help out. They are in the middle of report writing so giving us their valuable time was appreciated.

Community Consultation (Last week)

Thank you to those of you who have filled out the survey. It is not too late and this information will be really useful for the Board when they do their strategic planning for 2023 and beyond.

Classes 2023 -Student Placement Considerations

As teachers have begun the challenging process of placing students into classes for 2023 we can not entertain any further considerations. The last day for these considerations was Friday 18th November. Thank you for your understanding.

Students will get a chance to meet their new teacher and classmates in the last week of term.

School Library Books

All library books must be returned to school by this Friday 25th November.

If books are not returned you will be sent an overdue notice and a bill for book replacement.

Year 6 students leaving our school, please ensure that you have returned our HNPS library books.

We appreciate your support with this.

Google Accounts for Students in Years 3-5

All students in Year 3 and above have their own individual Google accounts that are managed and created by the school. These are used for the purpose of school-based digital activities. Accounts are monitored by teachers to ensure students are using them appropriately.

As of the last day of school, Wednesday 14th December, we will no longer be able to monitor these accounts and will be suspending them for the holidays.

Students who are leaving HNPS will be able to transfer their work to a new account. Letters about this will be coming home soon.

Students who own their own chromebooks will still be able to make use of their device by using a home account or by logging on as a guest.

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch kduligall@hnps.school.nz

UKULELE FESTIVAL 2022

On Friday evening, schools from around Hawkes Bay gathered at Havelock North Intermediate for the 2022 Ukulele Festival. Last year it was cancelled due to restrictions around Covid. This year 4 students from HNPS and Mrs Strand went along. The schools were given 8 songs to practise. There was a backing band and a large audience of family and friends. There were also performances from some of the schools. It was great to hear the singing and playing from such a large group of dedicated students and supporters. Along with Mrs Strand, Mr David Richardson has also helped the children with learning the songs. It was a great night's entertainment.

Our Focus for the next few weeks is... We respect our coaches, instructors and opposition

We have lots of sport happening at this time of year so it is important that we remind our children of the importance of respecting our coaches and opposition. Please lead by example and thank your child's coach for giving up their time to help your child develop. If you are a coach or volunteer, we thank you for all that you do.

Enviro School Update Term 4 Week 6
