7th-12th Grade Cooperative Agreement with Meade

What grades will be affected by the agreement?
Students entering 7th-12th grades.
The agreement will begin as a two-year agreement. Each year the BOE from both districts will be in review of the agreement.
What are the school hours?
Meade school hours are 8:05 a.m. - 3:25 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Will Fowler students be eligible for sports and activities?
Yes. Per KSHSAA Transfer Rule 18-1-7, any student transferring from a discontinued school shall be eligible for interschool activities immediately upon enrollment in another school, provided he or she attends a school in the vicinity of his or her home which is close enough so the student may continue to reside at home.
Which league will Fowler/Meade be a part of?
SPIAA- Southern Plains Iroquois Activity Association
Will transportation be provided? Who can ride the bus to Meade?
A resident student of the Fowler school district in grades 7-12 will be provided transportation to and from Meade by Fowler. The bus will leave Fowler at 7:30 a.m. and return to Fowler about 4:30 p.m.
Will students involved in sports/activities be transported back to Fowler?
Junior high students in grades 7-8 will be transported back to Fowler after practices and activities by Meade. It is anticipated that one return bus route time will be established for high school students in grades 9-12 by Meade. However, as high school activities vary in practice schedules, there may be times that students/parents will be responsible for their own transportation.
Will Fowler continue to have rural route transportation to Fowler schools?
Yes. This will be available to any student that resides within the district boundaries of Fowler and following the 2.5 mile transportation rule from KSDE.
When will enrollment take place?
Junior High- August 4th from 10:00-6:00 & August 5th from 9:00-1:00
High School- August 8th from 12:00-7:00 and August 10th from 9:00-3:00
Will there be enrollment fees?
All students attending Meade schools may be required to pay fees authorized by Kansas law including, but not limited to, textbook rental, technology, laboratory, shop, activity, towel, and band an instrumental fees.
What curriculum will be taught?
Students attending Meade schools will follow the Meade curriculum. Meade agrees to maintain a program in compliance with KSDE, accreditation requirements, and ESSA.
When can Fowler students begin participating with Meade?
Summer camps, activities, practices, conditioning, etc. will be coordinated by Meade for grades 7-12, and Fowler students may begin participating with Meade when KSHSAA activities are complete for the current school year.
Will Fowler's facilities be used?
The primary location of activities will be in Meade. One high school and one junior high basketball event will be scheduled at Fowler. As opportunities present themselves, Fowler facilities will be scheduled for use.
How does Meade communicate with parents?
School information is available on their website at www.usd226.org. They mail a monthly newsletter, provide a school App, and push out information through Thrillshare. Links to the calendar, App, etc. can be found on the district website.
