Spotlight on Core Values

Wondering how our Prestwick core values fit our littlest Lobos? Look no further than recess. Each day our Kindergarten and First Grade students start off recess with snack time then quickly move on to play. They don’t just jump right in though; they perform the act of service consisting of properly dealing with their trash. Once on the playground, students scatter in all directions but many help one another find solutions to navigate the play structure. Far from a traditional playground of swings and slides, ours has been compared to the show Wipeout, where moving from one end to the other other is a thought-provoking challenge. We see many students showing great levels of persistence, jumping time and again to reach the bar they are aiming for or adapting to the challenge by trying things from a different angle or perspective. Often students work together to navigate a particularly tricky row of moving balance rods or cheer one another on in trying the fire pole for the first time. Our kids are stepping up the challenge daily at PSA....indoors and out.

Rachel's Challenge Ceremonies

Students in all grades had house Rachel's challenge ceremonies. They discussed the ability to start a chain reaction with small acts of kindness towards one another. As we notice these small acts students and staff can give one another links with written messages to acknowledge. Teachers, our admin team and Mrs. Burrell challenged students to leave a legacy one action at a time.

After ceremonies students were allowed to reflect and make personal commitment to accept Rachel's challenge. Signatures on our banner document their commitment. Feel free to ask your child about their part in our chain reaction.
