PCMS WEEKLY UPDATE
October 16, 2020
Good Afternoon PCMS Families,
Next week marks the end of the 1st Quarter, so continue to work with your kiddos on staying up on their work and doing the best they can under these circumstances. Please encourage them to keep trying on their home days and ask lots of questions when they have them. Know that we understand this is really hard for middle schoolers and that we’re here to help them. This week’s CharacterDare brought the Kindness Ninjas to PCMS where they left positive notes with someone that could use a positive reminder and some encouragement … awesome stuff right there!
Enjoy the fall-like weekend and GO PIRATES!!!
In-person Learners in Grades 6-8: Return to Full In-Person - Declare by October 23
The Board of Education has approved a plan to phase into full in-person learning from the alternating schedule scenario at the secondary level. Pending Platte County Health Department approval, the plan allows for in-person students in grades 6-8 to return to daily in-person instruction starting November 30. Please note, with this change, there is increased possibility of student quarantine due to the increased number of students per classroom and limited ability for complete 6-foot physical distancing.
Please indicate if this information has changed your preferred learning scenario for your child, via the e-Form found on Parent Portal, linked here, by Friday, October 23, 2020. If we do not hear from you by October 23, we will plan for your child to attend full in-person learning.
If you need assistance, please contact us at 816-858-2036.
Academic Lab is Now Open
We are happy to announce that our Academic Lab opened this week! The Academic Lab program aims to provide students with another opportunity to continually improve on what they are learning. If your child struggled on a test, project, or needs some additional help, then they should be encouraged to attend Academic Lab and get that help.
All sessions are held in the Library. This year's schedule is shown below:
After School (Only): Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2:55pm - 4:00pm
School Picture Retakes
If your student was unable to get their school photo taken this week, don't worry! We have picture retakes scheduled for early December. We will send out more information as the date approaches, but we wanted to let you know that it's okay! We want to see each of our students' smiling faces in the yearbook, so we will make every effort possible towards that outcome.
Day of Hope - Nov 7, 2020
Wrestling - Begins Oct 26
