JANUARY 2018
A Chance at New Beginnings
The mission of Georgia Cyber Academy is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for all students.
ADVANCED LEARNER PROGRAM @ GCA
The Elementary School Advanced Learner Program serves approximately 500 students at GCA in K-5th grades. The goal of the Advanced Learner Program is to provide an individualized learning experience that addresses the unique needs of a student who is advancing educationally at GCA and requires additional opportunities to meet the educational and emotional needs of this unique population of students. Our flexible model for services enables us to meet the needs of any and all students who demonstrate the need for academic challenge beyond the regular education curriculum whether they are identified as gifted or not.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When corresponding with ALP Coordinator, Rebekah Cooper, please include your student's name and ID in the subject line. This will make for a quicker response time. Thank you!

MRS. RUDD'S 5TH GRADE SCIENCE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN BUSY
Owen put a raw egg in vinegar for 24 hours.
"By the 24th hour, the shell had totally dissolved, and all that was left was this rubbery, bouncy, mass of egg. It is larger now thatn before because it soaked up a lot of vinegar. I wasn't egg-specting that! Ha!"
MRS. RUDD'S STUDENTS USE MATH VOCABULARY IN THEIR DRAWINGS
MRS. CHRISTENSEN'S SOCIAL STUDIES STUDENTS WRITE SPEECHES
5th grade students worked hard before winter break to write a speech of a famous American. Some presented via a video they created, and others presented in class. Check out some of these here: https://padlet.com/jchristensen10/ty1lq405v9ho
Mrs. Christensen offers enrichment sessions on critical thinking skills. She shared that she is blown away by the critical thinking going on in these sessions and the ability of the students to explain how they solved the activities to their peers and teacher. Below are some examples.
