Hoofbeats
Great Falls Central Catholic 9/9/20
Dear Families,
We have a good start to our year and students have been cooperative with the precautions in place to keep our staff and students safe from illness. Our only hiccup has been outside lunch where students remove masks and congregate closely. The rest of this week we will be eating inside as we all work to remember that 6' distancing without masks is mandatory as per the health department and the governor's mandate. The situation over the weekend at Great Falls High School is a stark reminder that we want to avoid infections, if possible.
So far, our county has had a daily new infection rate that has been up and down. This week, it is back up above 10 again. I'm praying by Thursday that it will go down, but if it doesn't, it might mean that we need to consider a phase change. I'll consult with the health department about our risk before I make that change.
Sincerely,
Ms. Turoski

Edgenuity and MTDA
MTDA courses began this week, but Edgeunity classes have not gone live for our school yet. They have indicated that at least another week for our students to begin. Once started, Edgenuity classes are self-paced, tutors are available until 8 in the evening Monday through Saturday, and we will be supervising their progress on site at Central. We are currently waiting on Edgenuity to turn our classes on, then we will load the students in the courses and get them started. We will have a parent session to orient you to the platform as well. There are still seats available for students who would like to take coursework that's not generally offered in our rotation. This includes Honors or AP courses as well as some Career and Technology Education (CTE) courses we don't offer. Call Deacon Bob to find out if a course your student is interested in taking is available this semester.

Dress Code
Please help your students remember that we have a dress code for gentlemen as well as ladies. For our gentlemen, we require that their hair be kept above the ears and eyebrows as well as off the collar. A good rule of thumb for dress is to dress business casual each day, as school is preparing each student for adulthood.
Ladies are expected to keep their visible piercings clear, except for ears, and to groom their hair in non-distracting styles. Their dress is also expected to stay business casual and modest.
As outlined in the Montana Catholic Schools Student Guidelines & School Operations Handbook, student appearance will be neat, clean, and should exemplify the school's distinction from other schools. This handbook is linked below for your general reference.
Vocations Corner submitted by Matt Ginnaty
WHO ARE THE PRIESTS - A Catholic priest is a male ordained minister of the Church. Because they give their lives in total service to the Church, priests embrace the gift of celibacy and commit to a life of prayer. They proclaim the Good News, teach the Catholic faith, minister the Sacraments, work to build up their local faith community and lead their faith community in worship. Most priests will minister in a parish setting, while others may serve as chaplains to universities, hospitals, prisons, the armed forces and other industries. No priests, No Eucharist nor Reconciliation.
WHO ARE THOSE IN RELIGIOUS LIFE - A religious priest, brother, sister, or nun commits his or her life to sharing in the life and mission of The Church and their religious community. Religious priests, brothers, sisters and nuns embrace the call to poverty, chastity, and obedience. They nurture their call through a life of celibacy, faith, prayer, and service. Religious priests, brothers, sisters, and nuns serve in areas such as education, health care, parish, youth ministry, aged care, spirituality, pastoral ministry, social work, amongst the poor, and as a contemplative, as well as many will serve as missionaries in other cultures. Depending on the religious order, they may dress in 'normal' clothes or in a habit.
WHO ARE THE MARRIED - A married person lives a vow of faithful love to a spouse through the sacrament of marriage. Husbands and wives share a self-giving, love-giving and life-giving relationship with their spouse, and are committed to helping their spouse grow to human and Christian maturity. They seek to form a family home, and are together the first teachers of their children in Christian faith and values. Married people may serve in their parish community or in the Church in a number of different ways. Freely, Totally, Faithful, and Fruitful!
WHO ARE THE SINGLES - A person called to single life comes to believe that remaining single is the true and right way to faithfully live his or her baptismal call. Single men and women embrace the gift of celibacy while living alone, with a family or with others who are single. They are able to devote time and energy in service of others, and may serve in their parish community or in the Church in a number of different ways.
